My problem is in october i graduate nuclear power school and go to the next phase of traing which is prototype. Right now im living in barracks on base. When i go to prototype ill get an apartment and have to drive to work. But i do not have drivers lisence. I was wondering if anyone knew the requirments for obtaining a licesce in sc for people over the age of 18. or the easiest way to obtain a drivers lisence.

Google to the rescue...

Check out he South Carolina Dept. of Motor Vehicles site:
SCDMV (http://www.scdmvonline.com/DMVNew/default.aspx)

Near the top of the page is a horizontal list of links among which is "Driver Licenses", with info on obtaining one.

Killyjoy... don't lie. You didn't use Google... you had that commited to memory from years ago. You are just too modest to admit it.

I have long secretly wished to discard all my posessions and walk there on a pilgrimage dedicated to single-handedly carrying on a war with the state's population of wild pigs !

Die piggy !

Do you know how to drive? In almost every state, all you have to do to get a license is:
1. Be 18;
2. Have insurance;
3. Pass a hands-on driving test;
4. Pass a written test on the state's driving laws.

1. You're already 18.
2. You're in the military so you're Geico's favorite demographic. They're probably already sending you applications for insurance. If not check their website. Or Progressive.
3. If you don't know how to drive, go to a driver training school. American driving tests are notoriously easy to pass, something that makes many of us really angry but it works in your favor. If you can pass a course and aren't stricken with terminal nervousness, you'll pass the road test. If you already know how to drive, take one of your braver friends for a ride and let him decide whether you're really good enough to get a license. You're not qualified to judge yourself and it's a real pain to flunk the test and have to go back.
4. Read the material you'll get from the SC website, I'm sure it includes the pamphlets on the road laws. MEMORIZE THEM! Get your buddies to give you practice tests, and keep working on it until you get a perfect score three times in a row.

Then have a friend drive you to the DMV, with your proof of insurance and your money for the fee, and wait in line. Some states make appointments, so check into that.
