I think jackass is going to be unable to settle this one out of court. I heard on a new report that several kids have come forward with allegations.

I think we're in for another celebrity trial a la OJ Simpson, but MJ won't be as fortunate as OJ.

let the circus begin.

There are no civil charges that he can settle out of court.
Only criminal.
The prior out of court 20 million dollar settlement prompted the DA to lead the way to changing the law to eliminate loopholes of criminal prosecution by forcing a kid to talk.
Of course it will futher his own career and champion the prosecution of pedophilia even if MJ is somehow innocent.

I think we all agree that MJ is guilty of wierdness, which, who knows, might be a crime as defined somewhere in the patriot act :p

Hmm, yes MJ is in a particularly precarious position. He might be a child raping perve, or he might be someone who is a freak and in a position (due to his love of children) to be easily extorted as the child raping perve that doesn't actually exist. That sucks.

The first time this happened, he should have realized that he was now wholly elidgible for future extorsion. He MUST have realized that but chose to keep it up (so to speak). While I understand the tendency for gossip, shouldn't he be considered innocent until proven guilty?

yes, but many a guilty man has remained innocent merely because their guilt cannot be proven.

Like OJ!

Come on, this is America, we don't send the rich and famous to jail!

He is not going to have an OJ trial with mobs threatening a second LA riot and chanting outside the deliberations no peace no justice.

1) Public emotion always runs high regarding kids.
2) The "justice system" may feel that the OJ debacle needs to be compensated for, and the balance re-addressed.
3) Album sales dwindlng, popularity decreasing, ultmate PR stunt required:

- Guaranteed bestselling book when he gets out.'
- Plus other spin offs

= MJ going to the can.
