i used to hate PETA with a passion because i thought they would make big deals out of nothing.
but after seeing a series of REAL and TRUE footage, i now want to help them out in any way possible.

the monkey clip isn't as near as bad as how they kill the animals for J.Crew's fur.
they beat them on the ground, and leave them there for a while, and it shows their nerves twitching and screaming and they continue with other brutal methods.

    i am shocked and appauled.
and these videos are real, becuase it would be pretty difficult to re-vise these videos to make it look as painful as they do.

even if you have PETA and don't care for anything in the world about random animals, just watch a few of these clips.

Im not sure why i put this under politics, but im sure a political debate will arrouse out of this.

Well, sometimes it's best not to see or think about such things. It can do you no good that I know. If you want to be truly horrified, go to a few nursing homes in your area and see how they "care for" the sick, infirmed and the elderly. ...be sure to take a few barf bags with you!

Another way to be horrified ...go visit a large hospital in your area and check out the emergency wards and the intensive care units.

By the way, Jack, how do you know that those videos aren't "faked" by PETA? Ya' know, they can do wonders these days with video and camera equipment. Don't believe everything you see.

yea i dont. but i have seen other videos like this before, and thought they were fake, but some of these videos are real (maybe not the monkey one because they are literally torturing them) but i know at least some of them are real! for god sakes u think a chinese farmer would waste a bullet on every fox he killed??
of coarse not, that would be like his annual income!

Yes, ignorance is bliss! What you don't know can't kill ya!

But hey, how do you expect studies that deal with bodies to be done? Surely we can't learn everything from cadavers. Try and imagine how studies on the body first happened eons go. Think of Jack the Ripper, as an example. The field of medicine is pretty disturbing when you think about it.

Or read.. or see.. or hear.. or touch.. or smell.. or experience..

    Amusing trend you're on lately.

It could be comforting to some people to believe they are faked.

yeah, that skinning of those...raccoons(?) was pretty messed up. however, it looked like they killed them pretty throughly in the beginning, and the only reason I would see for them to skin one that alive, would be if the peta people paid them. never underestimate the harm that can be done by people who think the ends justify the means.

p.s. none of the videos really bothered me that much, I believe in social contract ethics. anything that cannot make a social contract with us, or have a strong attachment to someone who can, is morally void in IMO.

There are a lot of things that other people do that disgust me, but that doesn't give me the right to say they should be illegal. That's how some of the worst horrors in history have come about. Somebody says, "Oh my god, that's just revolting. Those people shouldn't be allowed to ____." Fill in the blank. Worship a god that isn't "real," have sex with someone whose skin is a different color, sing, drink alcohol, let their women out in public with their hair showing and no chaperone... And I'm not even making any of that stuff up! Do you really want to work people up into a fit of irrational indignation over some propaganda that was shown to you by some people who are ALREADY worked up into a fit of irrational indignation?

Do your own due diligence. Find out if those videos were staged for money, it happens all the time. Even if it's real find out just how prevalent it is, there are one-percenters in every walk of life. At least give the people who are being shown in a bad light a chance to explain themselves. This is frelling America after all!

I guarantee that somewhere in the world there is not just one wacko but an entire COMMUNITY of people who appear sane and sensible to their neighbors, who think that something that YOU do is so repugnant that you should be forcibly stopped.

America is about tolerance. If it were easy we wouldn't need a special word for it. Never forget that. What goes around comes around.

Hmmm. I've never found Mormons to be quite that meddlesome in the lives of others. Even the missions they send their kids on are as much about making a better life on earth for the people they find there as they are about heaven and dogma. They make some pretty tough rules in Utah but okay, so they've got one (rather out-of-the-way) place where they get to be in charge. They're not in the forefront of most of the ultra-right wing religious movements that are going on today.

The state of Utah cast the final vote that repealed Prohibition!

    PETA?

Look, I do have some sympathy for what their trying to do but in a world where humans fuck over each other on a daily basis I think that they have a long way to go before I start putting "Sort out animal cruelty" on my to do list.

    Mormons are very rude.
the majority of them won't even tlak to you if your not mormon.
My friend's family lived there because of his dad's job, and not even a half a year with that great job, they moved because of the disrespect they recieved.
And that job was the biggest job oppurtunity.
    so... haha...

The way we treat animals should demonstrate the goodness of our hearts and not be the result of coersion by any entity. PETA has chosen the low road. Even if it hadn't, the first statement would still be true.

Every Mormon I've ever met seemed talkative and friendly. I was having car trouble one time and a couple mormons stopped to help. As far as Peta goes, I wouldn't believe ANYTHING they said or support anything they supported without strong evidence from a source completely unconnected to them.

Who cares? What have these animals done for me?
The only animals I really like are Cats and Dogs. Other ones, they may be cool, but I won't cry when they die.
The only reason I support PETA a little bit is because Pamela Anderson is a member of PETA.

i have mormon friends, they pray in german (german mormon church, but they're americans), which is interesting, but otherwise they're sane people. don't bigot

As for PETA, It's funny that these groups only seem to give a shit about animals that could pass as something a child could cuddle with a stuffed fake version off. fluffy, cute things. penguins, bunnies, ducklings, puppies, cats, etc. etc. No one gives a rats ass about spiders, snakes, or anything that's more different from us than mammals. Why? We have empathy for creatures more related to us, physically and psychologically, such as dogs, when compared to spiders. How does PETA justify not fighting for the rights of spiders everywhere?! Arn't they animals too? And what about the ones we kill with our sticky, slimmy, *gasp* mucus glands!!! Those poor, poor creatures, millions of them dying with every breath! But they're a threat to us, so we need to defend ourselves, it's part of our basic instinct to survive, to develop tools. True, this involves testing on animals, and it's unfortunate, but would you rather your friend were payed to drink sips of oven cleaner to see how much is a lethal dose? That's against the survival instinct. Sacrificing other creatures makes us stronger, which in turn makes us more capable of defending said creatures from forces unknown. We could end up expanding nature off earth, at the price of a sliver of earth's animals required to make the drugs needed for us to survive long enough to make this possible.

But does PETA care about sacrifice in the name of survival? Sure, when sick, I'm sure a PETA member wouldn't think twice to suck down the cough medicine, which probably saw animal testing somewhere during it's development.

Any organization that compares chicken slaughtering to the holocaust deserves no support. PETA is a terrible organization, and I can't see why anyone would support them.

Frankly, I think it crazy with so many PEOPLE dying, starving, etc. in this world, people would devote so much time to animal rights. Take care of human rights abuses first then lets talk about out little furry friends.

I find it disheartening that people watch an animal abuse video and get all sentimental yet advocate the murder of people. Something is not right in the minds of the people...

Humans are animals, all animals with complex nervous systems suffer equally.
There is no difference between skinning a human baby or a grown up deer.
