Ok, this is a weird, but true story of what happened to me this past night. Because it is based on a dream, I am putting it in the parapsychology forum. I died in my dream last night, and I wanted to share some of my insights with everyone. Please keep in mind, that I am telling you this from my experiences and what I believe to be true; so take from it what you will.

I died in my bed. . .and everything was white. There was a highpitched sound and my consciousness began to float above me. I became one with everything. It was a very new, and safe kind of feeling. And then I woke up. I was lying in bed, for about two minutes unsure if I was really alive or dead. I searched for my pulse, and I COULDN"T FEEL IT. "Please. . .I'm not ready yet. I'm too young. It's not my time" I thought to myself. I felt my heartbeat come back after about a minute and a half. Very strange, but I assure you this is what happened to me last night.

I had an epiphany of sorts from this experience. Probably the most important thing that I came to understand is that every living thing is part of the same consciousness. This consciousness somehow manifests itself into individual and diverse physical life forms. This consciousness seperates itself into smaller parts and apparently seeks to entertain itself by intereracting with itself. When we die we go back to the same unified consciousness. "Death" as in non-existence is simply not possible.

No offense but you sound like a broke cult leader trying to secure funds from gullible followers.

Whoa I always wake up right before I die or when I get really scared. Maybe now you alone know what death is like.

WTF? I thought this happened to everyone? I've died in my dreams countless times (not for years though!). No mystic experiences, I'd jump into another dream or wake up.

I have done lot's of wild and strange things in my dreams, found myself in some unthinkable predicaments...but I have never died or even come close to dying...not in my dreams anyway.

Invisibleone, the way you describe your experience sounds a lot like a near death experience. The white light, the out of body and the interconnectiveness with everything are characteristic among NDE's.

You may have had a close call last night.

I love dreams. Maybe the reason you have died in your dream is because some part of you emotionally has died in your life. Maybe it is beacuse you had spicy food to eat the day before, dreams could mean a lot of things. Usually they are the way your mind works out the things it does not understand. Maybe you had the dream so you would feel more comfortable with death. It is not an analogy for the consciousness of the universe, but if you got out that then good for you.

Then again mabye you almost died, but then came back into your body.

Probally not, especially the whole pulse thing. Maybe you didn't really wake up until a minute and a half later. I've had dreams when I thought I woke up, yet to find myself stuck in another dream.

you might have just had a stroke or heart attack so go see a doctor

You had an OBE ( out of body experience, aka astral projection ), it's when the "thin" bodies flowt out of your phisical body and hover around. You can fly around, walk through walls, etc. Maybe you seen a silver cord connecting you to your phisical body? Also you might have felt vibratons before or after exiting your body.

This does NOT necessary have to do anything with dying ( while I do believe that when one dies, his "thin" bodies flowt out of his dead phisical body the same way ).

There are people who can cause this by will.
Take a look at http://www.astralforum.com , for example. Or some workd by Robert Monroe...

As for the missing pulse, I guess you were just scared and cound not find the right spot where it is ( on the thumb side of the wrist ) at first.

If it happens again, don't be scared - you're not dead. So better try to fly around or give someone a visit  .

Good Luck!

Is it normal to enter or be surrounded by a white light during an OBE?

I know the white light is very common in NDE's.

I too would suggest seeing a doctor just to be on the safe side.

I haven't OBEed on my own, but I heard that OBEers are surrounded with electric, blue light. So they can see by the help of this light in dark places. While sometimes an OBEer might see only black darkness ( could be white here ) , because his "vision" hasn't yet fully turned on...

I wouldn't worry about this thing, but better make some exercises and try to OBE again... as you sure have a talent for it ;) !

... everything was white .... my consciousness began to float above me ...
But did you really see your phisical body lying on the bed or it was white all around and you just "thought / dreamed" that you're floating above? If so, why did you think you died??? As I already said, you probably couldn't find your pulse becuase you were scared & in the middle of the night...

When I was younger, there was once I dreamt that ,my parent left me on the street alone and I was just crying there and then I saw my parent waving to me in a white van but hte problem is when I was younger,my father's car was blue not white and a few years later,he bought a white car just like the one I saw in my dream:bugeye: and when I called out to them, they just smiled and say something I think anyway I forgot what they said but they did not stop they just drove on well after that I just sort of fell off my bed I did't not wake up though because I didn't know I fell onto the floor and the floor is made of marble so that is suppose to hurt me very much but I was crying because I was so scard in the dream next thing is my mother heard me crying and came into my room to check what happened but she just saw me on the floor crying so she just thought that I fell of the bed and hurt myself so I was crying and if you are wondering how I know I fell of my bed,it was my mother who told me.I didn't tell my parent about this though, but still it is only a dream so don't worry, cause my parent has not even chucked me out of the door yet.:)

I remember posting this somewhere, it might have been sciforums, in fact, it probably was, but nevermind.
Anyway, not so long ago i also died in a dream. It was similar, in parts, to invisibleone's, except replace 'white' with 'black' or, rather, darkness. The was it happened was odd too.
It was in a cinema in my town, that isn't acually there, it was warm and night, something it also never is here. All families were out and about although it was very late and there was a strong euphoric atmosphere everywhere. I joined my family in the packed, huuuge theatre, shook my dad's hand, thanked my family for looking after me and sat down. My grandad was there and he something about it being all ok after the red gas appeared, and that it'd be quick.:bugeye:
I'm not sure how long it was but eventually the place slowly filled with pinkish gas. As it filled i saw big heart-monitor style sections of heart rate graphs appear, then flatten with a 'beeeep' above everyone's head as they died. Then it got to me, my viewpoint shot backwards and i watched it happen to my body from above it.
I then got the sensation of hanging in darkness, being, but not thinking. There was no internal dialogue like i usually have. I have no perception of how long that period of darkness and bodylessness lasted, but 'i' slowly seeped back into the equation and started thinking again. Like 'wait, im dead?', 'am i really dead?' 'where is my body?' and 'am i now trapped in this state?'.
I felt time start up slowly again, and the darkness faded away, and i realised i had my eyes open and was awake.
I lay awake feeling very warm and unlike i ever have before, before going back to a very pleasant sleep.

Odd.
This has only ever happened to me once.

Hmm well how about this?

I had a dream that i was three different people. Each one of them died and as they died i did the "floating" above the body. After one died i seeming went to a new place. One was in a house that some burgerlers broke into. Another was some guy with a girl getting chased by a gang of some sorts. And the last one was a guy whos car lost the brake and he slammed into a train's side.
The last one being the most graphic and strange. I could feel the bloody throaty feeling when i spoke out from the wreckage of the car "i'm still alive". About that point i heard metal grinding and i started to float above the wreckage. There were people outside of the car grinding metal off so they could get the body out.

wierd eh?

it sounds like an out of body experience. pilots at very high altitudes have been known to black out and have out of body's...but i have never heard of someone simply gong to bed one night and having one. what are you on and can i have some? :D

Death in dreams usually symbolises moving on or losing apart of yourself. When you die in a dream it means that either you are letting a part of yourself go and moving on or you feel trapped in your current state and are being suffocated by your life.
If someone else dies it usually means that ethier you're ignoring that person and not paying them enough attention or you're not using your own talents, the person that dies in your dream could be a representative of a part of you that you don't know you have. At least that's the Freudian interpretation.

Death in dreams usually symbolises....
After seeing my first decapitation by guillotine on TV (some medieval thing) when I was younger, I dreamed of being decapitated myself. I think most dreams don't mean anything at all:)

Hmm, anyone ever read any books by a guy named Brian Weiss (sp?). He talks about stuff similar to invisibleone's experience.
And as for dieing in a dream, it supposedly means your body is trying to warn you that there is something wrong with it, some kind of disease or something. Or it could have simply been your soul going for a walk. Who know? Not me.

Its funny how a lot of people say when they die in a dream they wake up....
someone said maybe you know what its like to die now...

Its funny cuz maybe that is what happens when we die here in this life, this dream. We "wake" up.
Is life a dream.

Afer a lot of running away at first, scared as hell.
I use to die alot in my dreams when I first started to notice them. I only woke up 1 time out of them all. Most of the time I just wake up later and remember dying.

I have many dreams now a days and after all these dreams which is a lot none of them I ever die in -ever. Things that I would consider nightmares back when I first started dreaming arent even scary anymore. I can still feel the fear but its like something far off in the distance, which lets me know this is a "nightmare"

Like last night a part of my dream I was in this house, and from the start I knew this was a haunted home. The whole scenery talked of haunted... not that the house was all messy and dirty and wierd... actually it was a nice house. But the mood, the dimness the candles, the scenario outside, is what made me think it.
I was gathering some books- a whole lot of books- and was headed up stairs to the bedroom, which was pretty small, with a bed with red sheets, small tan desk, and the only light was from a lamp on the desk. But I started reading something which was hard for me to remember....hahaha something about dreaming.

But I fell asleep in the dream! Fell asleep during a dream. And I saw this old lady , 5 ft tall at most was flying toward me with a face like she was gonna kill me or something. Her face was hard to remember... usually faces are hard to remember for some reason in dreams. But I remember her grim mouth and long nails, and her redish dress was nice... they woulda of looked nice if they werent tattered. She came at me as if she was going to strangle me and out of no where another woman appears....and she helps me, I'm not sure but I think she was a ghost also. I couldnt see her face cuz she had her back toward me but she was wearing white and she was transparent like mist.

Its wierd that in most of my dreams the people I see are women, always usually their are women in my dreams - the ones that interact. The guys are usually bystanders watching, just part of the backround, tho not all the time.
Nothing like some kind of sex happens tho... well not anymore ever since I was able to spurn this one woman off me, I dont have sex dreams, which was odd reaction I got, I woulda thought since it was a dream she woulda just vanished and it would drop but it was a rage that took her over like she was possessed - But I think it was a good thing, a sign of how strong my "will" was - "Will" will give you "power"- Cuz shoot, I mean who in their "right" mind will decline the person of their dreams? My "left" mind told me I was being leeched on for energy. Why you think in nightmares theirs always some protaganist? Just like being really afraid due to nightmares in a dream you get leeched.

Ahhh the left and the right, to know the opposites, of all... my old soul name
"Nascere TwoWinds" ...

As crazy as this "one with everything" feeling may sound, I agree with invisibleone and believe what he experienced. When I was younger, I frequently died in my dreams. It became 3rd person, but I could feel all of "my" emotions and feelings. When you die, it feels as if you're empty. It's the same feeling when you're extremely scared or suprised? Kinda feels like lifting up and tingly inside you (at least for me).

I can't honestly say whether or not there was white, because I can't remember. But the feeling is correct.

below is a quote from earlier....exactly what I experienced.

I die every night :) There's no special feeling.. i just see what my funeral would be like...
oh.. and i got stabbed, shot, poisoned, beaten to death, i had cancer, i had super powers;so i died because they were ruining me, i slit my wrists, someone slit my throad, i hanged myself, i got hit by a car, i fell off a cliff... there's no ending. and the worst part is... that i can see my friends crying, but deep inside, they don't even care about me. it's sad...
oh, and the feeling of being dead is cool. i'm not afraid of dying.

People make endless choices throughout their lives. You probably had a heart attack. You were dying but you decided you wanted to live. You called out and your soul and guardian angel decided ok ok, you want to be around longer, thats fine, it doesnt matter.

Read my thread in free thoughts -ife is just a paradox, there is no good and evil

I think its something like that. However i did not have to almost die to experience that idea. Havent had the feeling yet but i think i understand it.

Read a book by Neale Donald Walsh - Conversation with god

There is a whole bunch of books he's written that led me to my beliefs.

dying in your dream, eh? a fantastic experience. i've had at least 2 dreams i can recall in which i died, and the dream continued beyond that.. it's all about your personal beliefs. your mind working things out. if you deeply believe that there is a total cessation of being upon death, then i don't imagine you will ever have dreams where you go beyond death. some describe dreams in which they die and encounter symbollic religious afterlife-type dealies. in one of my own dreams i was re-born as an infant human some couple hundred years post-mortem. co-incidentally (or not) at the time i was at least fascinated by the idea of rebirth. i did find it interesting that my mind had me rebirthing as a human, something which i generally count as being rather improbable.

I highly suggest a great book for you guys. It was the #1 new york times bestseller. It's "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.
