I've just decided to quit this job. It's been a fun 2 years but now their nearly ready to close this place. You see recently they've opened 2 other branches only 2 miles from this, and they offer more to the customers than merely shipping. As a result I'm moving on, perhaps to more annoying but satisfying endevours. My choice is based on part that my co-worker of 1 year was fired a few days ago, however he was the Assistant Manager here and the only other employee besides myself. This would be acceptable however not only did they fire this fellow, but also never called to let me know! It's been 5 days and the only way I found out he was let go is because the person filling in (temporarily) told me out of pity. She knows they hate us, probably because I make 11 & hour while they work harder and make 8-9!

This is the result of two seperate companies becoming one, then hiring new employees for less pay + benefits! I can sympathize, however I also doubt the sincerity of those I work around. They claim understanding or to care but then don't even have the brains to make a 10 second phone call to let me know all this. You're asking why does that matter? Because there is now nobody else here working, I'm the only official employee! This means they are confident that soon this branch will close, otherwise they'd have gotten other workers.

I'm tired of this drama, it's wayyyyy to much drama for a simple job like this. I enjoy function and simplicity, they seem to revel in causing conflict and finding reasons to pursue you.

I don't trust them, and honestly 250 each week isn't alot of money, I am unimpressed with this pay. Certainly anything I do find will pay less, but it will likely be closer to my house thus offering more benefit in that regard.

Now because nobody is left to run the center I think they may ask me to stay until it closes, but I certainly have no intention to stick around and be retrained for their Office & Print work-shirmirk. After-all they sell false knowledge people, any half-brained more-on knows what file types are, or how to make a word document. They sell this to people to unintelligent or creative and call it "service / product". To me this is sick, I think eventually everyone that has intellect would reach the same conclusion.

Also the main thing I hate about it is they wish you to sell their products, but I don't understand why they can't just put posters up instead of forcing those working to do it for them. Sure it's WORK but what happened to the employer being responsible for people knowing what they offer? It's not my place to harass customers into buying new or updated services only to hear them yap NO or YES.

So in effect I've written a resignation letter and will be giving my 2 weeks notice, so I'll end up leaving March 19. I am not sure what will happen to me, however I know I'll be better off than staying in this company and rotting to death under the barage of training classes they make people take online. It would seem they've discovered Macromedia Flash and have gone overboard, but still I just can't think how they have wasted so much on so little. Who is going to take 4 hour classes online with 23 for your job type? And 8 an hour?

To further illustrate my point I asked a manager from down the road (when he came in to check something here unexpectedly) "how's your day goin" and his reply (which indicates limited thinking and perspective) was "Fine, we're gonna have a 7,000 dollar day tommorrow".. as if I really gave a shit about that kind of thing. Simply sickening ehh?

    Example

"Hi, how ya doin man, so like you're just checkin stuff out huh"

"Oh yeah, I'm just getting somethin"

"Well so what'cha lookin for, anything goin on"

    "Not much"

"So how long have you worked for this company"

"8 years about, how about you"

    "2 years, since they merged"

"So how ya doin today man?"

"We're ok, it's gonna be a 7,000 dollar day tommorrow"

    LFMAO god it's disgusting.

Look for something else, then quit without notice.

Before you quit, you should really have something else already set up. You don't want to end up unemployed for an unknown amount of time.

ask your former co-worker if he recieved a financial compensation.

And start looking for a other job I gues. Being unemployed sucks.

I yust hot fired because I didn't speak a launguege well enough that I never had needed to use anyway (profesionally).

If they want you gone then eventually they will find or make up a way.

How old are you? I have a friend who is 48, works the 10pm-6am shift Thursday through Monday, is frequently in physically uncomfortable locations, can't leave her post except three specified times during the shift, gets no paid holidays or leave and no insurance or other benefits... and makes $13 an hour. Yes of course she has no university degree, how do you suppose she got this magnificent life?

If you're as young as most of the kids here and you're making $11 an hour--and apparently you have no higher education either or you wouldn't have this magnificent life either--you're better off than most people. Do not assume that you'll find something better without going back to school.

Do not assume that you'll find something at all. Whatever you do, don't turn in your resignation until you already have a contract and a start date. Hiring managers can smell desperation; don't reek of it.
