View Full Version : I LOVE Cartoons
TruthSeeker 11-04-04, 06:47 PM Cartoons are eeeeevil :D
My favorite one is The Simpsons. Lots of irony and sarcasm there. I wonder what they will create now, since Bush was re-elected.... :D
What's your favorite cartoon?
I like The Tick, which is a classic. I like the one where he invents the code words and "SPOON!" is attack... that was great
cosmictraveler 11-04-04, 07:09 PM Bugs Bunny with Tweety and Sylvester coming in a close second.
Dreamwalker 11-04-04, 07:17 PM mmmh...Ren & Stimpy and Beavis and Butthead.

My favorite cartoon:
An old favorite from Granada with a character named "Ustedes-Son-Caca".
I love cartoons.
sargentlard 11-04-04, 09:17 PM The Gerald Mcboing Boing cartoons are great.
The award winning Tom and Jerry cartoon where Tom performs Beethoven all the while attacking Jerry inside the paino.
The Simpsons of course.
Various droopy the dog cartoon with Vaudville droopy being one of my favorites (he steals a band made of ants and keeps them inside his fur while being chased by the owner throughout the whole cartoon)

I'm 21 years old, and I will never stop watching cartoons. But all the more "children" cartoons are getting worse everyday... They re-make old cartoons... and come up with boring junk and turn movies into cartoons...
No more original Ideas it seems. :(
I actully got a couple DVDs with classic classic cartoons. It is clear how downhill cartoons have gotten since then.
TruthSeeker 11-05-04, 02:21 PM The award winning Tom and Jerry cartoon where Tom performs Beethoven all the while attacking Jerry inside the paino.
Oh man,... how many times I watched that whan I was a kid.... :D
Dilbert, Family Guy.... love those too. :D
I forgot what I was going to say...... oh well...
Oh yeah! Cooooow and Chicken!
Insanely Elite 11-06-04, 04:17 AM I enjoy south park.
Who doesn't like the simpsons?
Ren and Stimpy were just too gross for my taste.
Bevis and Butthead humored me for a while.
Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote were great too.
I liked Bugs Bunny-that bullfighter bit was good, the Valkyrie was my fav.
Loonie tunes also tuned me on to classical music. The barber of seville was a classic episode.
What I love about cartoons, oddly, is it's impact on my study of the control of human behavior. Psychologists have been involved in cartoons for a long while. I recall an oldie that had "eat at joes" signs all through it. The psychologist is listed in the credits! That was over 60 years ago.
Cartoons are cool too 'cause the characters don't have to age, and the physical laws can be discarded. Opening many plots and ideas unavailable to other mediums.
cosmictraveler 11-06-04, 09:03 AM What about these:
Mighty Mouse
Yosimite Sam
Yogi Bear
Casper The Friendly Ghost
Space Ghost
Johnny Quest

Thanks to cartoons, I started playing piano. Which was a major turn point in my life.

And philosophy too. Particularly in the Simpsons....
Insanely Elite 11-06-04, 02:02 PM TruthSeeker,
Do you remember the saturday night skit with the parody of classics from the great masters transformed into the classics for cartoons? I got such a kick out of that.
Cartoons are like dreaming, anything can happen.
TruthSeeker 11-06-04, 02:17 PM Sorry... I haven't watch much saturday night live. I'm not from Canada, ya know? ;)
Fraggle Rocker 11-06-04, 05:53 PM All-time favorites: Daria, Duckman
Current favorites: South Park, Spongebob
Favorite quickly-cancelled cartoons: God, the Devil and Bob, the Family Dog.
Favorite old ones: Doug, Rugrats (the first couple of seasons), Mighty Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Muppet Babies (the first couple of seasons), Ah! Real Monsters, Rocko's Modern Life
The Tick was great, but the live-action version that ran for about six weeks was truly marvelous.
c20H25N3o 11-06-04, 05:56 PM Cow and Chicken rule.
A Canadian 11-06-04, 06:35 PM Hmmm was Rabbit, in Whinnie the Pooh, a male or female?
I could never figure that out.
Cow and chicken was really tasteless, but the I R Baboon and I M Weasle bits where pretty funny.
I just remebered a good one, Pinky and the Brain! Narf!
A Canadian 11-06-04, 06:37 PM Sorry... I haven't watch much saturday night live. I'm not from Canada, ya know? ;)
Huh? I don't get it.
Saturday Night Live hasn't been funny for 8 years now.
A Canadian 11-07-04, 01:30 AM Oh, 'Cerks: Uncensored'
Too bad Kevin Smith only wrote 6 Episodes and only 2 ever aired on TV. :(
If you have not seen it yet, I urge you to!
Kevin Smith is AKA Silent Bob.
And Clerks was one of his first films. It is black & white. :D Not becuase it is old, but to add effect. ;)
'Cerks: Uncensored' is the cartoon version of 'Clerks', which is way funny.
"Big American Party!"
"Everybody Disco Dancing!"
"Who is Driving?! Oh No! Bear is driving!"
"Car full of midgets!"
"Everybody work"
"Ow"
Everybody work"
"Ow"
"Big Mean man whip us good"
"Oh no! Pikachu! Please don't sue!"
"Oh Noes! Tom Cruise!"
"You want the truth you can't handle the truth! Show me the money"
"Oh No!"
sargentlard 11-07-04, 02:01 AM All-time favorites: Daria
Ma man.....Daria was awesome. Only great thing MTV ever did was that show.
Ambigiously gay duo cartoons are great too.
A Canadian 11-07-04, 04:43 AM SNL cartoons are funny.... but they really do not fall into the catagory of series.
Plus, they don't even make them anymore :(
as far as I know
Fraggle Rocker 11-07-04, 06:45 PM Hmmm was Rabbit, in Whinnie the Pooh, a male or female?
I could never figure that out.Male, in both the books and the cartoons. The only female character is Kanga.
Closet Philosopher 11-07-04, 07:55 PM I used to love Hercules the original when I was a kid (I can't believe they still played it on CBC). Now, I watch the SImpsons (although it has gone downhill) and I take in the occasional episode of South Park. I'm not really a big fan of cartoons.
All the old Warner Bros cartoons are by far the best. All walt disney stuff i think is crap. I even used to hate disney stuff when i was a little kid. Syrupy dross. Daffy Duck rules!
