Overpopulation is of great concern for most environmentalists. More people on the planet consume more resources, require more habitat to be taken away from endangered species etc.

Is it, therefore, hypocritical for someone who considers him or herself an environmentalist to have, say, 3 children? Can this be considered a separate, personal issue? What about the argument that these children might be the ones to save the planet from destruction by their discoveries? Or could one argue that the real problem is an unequal distribution of resources?

Guess you are right by saying that these children are the ones who will have to carry the burdon, left by their parents and fellow humans, to 'save the world' yes. Then again, if the resources were distributed more equally all over the Earth and the humans, there would be another picture sketched.

Then the pollution wouldn't be so stuck on certain parts of the Earth and probably be less then it is now.

When people chose for a child, then better think first how you want to raise a child. For that's the major problem here. Children are not raised to respect Earth and Nature, they are raised after the likehood of their parents and their school teachers. It would be good as there came a change in this. Teach your children well...
