I attended a weekend festival where there was a hypnotists and although his show started out slow, it was truly amazing. He had 7 subjects mostly mid 20s, and they were very easy to get into the hypnotic state and were doing anything he told them too. I am going to look more into hypnotism and its possible medical usage, but in the maintime, if anyone has personal experiences please share it....
more like the power of suggestion.. Psychologists can tell you all about this but it's not at all mystical...
i remember this redhead. god i was hypnotized by this girl. seriously though, i consider hypnosis as a science as BS. you're getting sleeeeeeeeepy . . . sorry, just couldn't resist.
They tried a few times to hypnotize me but they couldn't. They said there are many who cannot ever be hypnotized due to certain brain functions that will not allow people to believe in such things. Evidently if you want to be told things that you wouldn't mind doing and are susceptible then you are a candidate.
Yesterday I downloa... I mean bought a course of CJ Johnson. http://www.sleepwithcj.com/ Here are the videos of his show: http://www.sleepwithcj.com/media.html I have already tried the self relaxation part. I was pretty sleepy to begin with, so it was hard to concentrate, but I relaxed alright. He does lots of appearances in colleges. He says students are more open minded and less inhibitated than adults, so it is easier to hypnotize them. I will use this thread as a journal with my experiences of his course. It is basicly a self help guide, for weight loss, improving self image, and welth gain. (yeah I like this last one) His show is very similar to the one I saw, using similar technics and ideas. On the CD a part of the Penn and Teller show Bullshit is included, where they talk about hypnosis, pretty much answering my original question. It helps with people willing to try to achieve a goal (let's say to quit smoking) but it is not a medical miracle for smokers who don't give a shit...
