1. Human intelligence is largely hereditary.

2. Civilization depends totally upon innate intelligence. Without innate intelligence, civilization would never have been created. When intelligence declines, so does civilization.

3. The higher the level of civilization, the better off the population. Civilization is not an either-or proposition. Rather, it's a matter of degree, and each degree, up or down, affects the well-being of every citizen.

4. At the present time, we are evolving to become less intelligent with each new generation. Why is this happening? Simple: the least-intelligent people are having the most children.

5. Unless we halt or reverse this trend, our civilization will invariably decline. Any decline in civilization produces a commensurate increase in the collective "misery quotient."

Bogus. Human intelligence is related to education. Have your people take over the TV, then have your stars emulate the behavior of aggressive animals, and pretty soon all the human's watching start acting like animals.

Most kids in the teen or 20's bracket in America speak like the abusive FOX news channel people. Screaming, yelling, lying, abusive. They were trained to do that by the FOX newscasters.

Go back to newscasters like Walter Cronkite or early NBC,CBS,ABC and people will become human again.

I agree that our civilization could be poised to become progressively less intelligent, but not greatly so in any immediate sense.

However, the world cannot take part in such a trend until such time as mechanical devices render human intelligence completely moot for survival and prosperity, which is unlikely to occur recently.

Also, such trend is not so much due to stupid people having more children because they're stupid as much as the fetishization of ignorance. It is attractive to be stupid. The mode of evolution in society is social selection; we are, to a degree, breeding for a more attractive human. Intelligence is unattractive in America; stupidity is fetishized.

Portray intelligence as attractive, rather than stupidity, and you may have all the selection towards intelligence that you could desire. The question is not restriction of breeding, but in determining what is socially attractive.

And as a cultural phenomenon in a non-socially uniform gene pool... well, you may as well ignore it. Particularly considering that non-evolutionary factors are liable to bring America to heel within the next few generations at most.

I agree with this somewhat.
Civilization creates dependence and protects individuals from the ravages of nature.
Dependence and safety creates decadence.
Decadence leads to decline.

It is reasonable to assume that an absence of challenges results in mental dullness, just as an absence of physical effort results in muscular atrophy and obesity, if it is combined with excess.
Necessity is at the root of all growth.

Civilization and the needs of society have made it possible for all kinds of human genetic deficiencies to become ‘normal’ or acceptable.
We even allow and defend the ‘right’ of the mentally retarded to bear children and pass on their genes.
What in natural envireonments would perish or be prevented from reproducing, is protected and nurtured and allowed to replicate, within ‘civilized’ environments and due to human intervention.

This, in turn, results in a general genetic decline which human ingenuity is asked to correct or to adjust to, using technology and invention. It becomes a game of catch-up as one technology creates the necessity for newer ones to correct the consequences of the first.
