View Full Version : Human Evolution or genetic evolution?
Alright, first off I would like to stress that I dont actually think this, and yeah. . . it was just an idea.
as far as darwins theory of evoltion, humans evolved from apes and other things from similar, but inferior things. . . We all know this. My idea is that life evolves, but it will always evolve the same way, on any planet. So say a species evolved on a seperate planet, my idea is that in life, in the genetic code, is the DNA or whatever for all the stages of evolution. pretty much all I'm saying is that life on any planet would be realitivly very similar to ours. Now I'm not looking for obvious critisism towards this, I see it. But we dont know for a fact that we evolved, and you cant prove this wrong so just consider it and yeah, reply.
sideshowbob 11-29-04, 01:53 AM 1. We did not evolve from apes. Humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor.
2. Evolution is not from "inferior" to superior. Evolution is just change.
3. What do you mean "we don't know for a fact that we evolved"?
Ophiolite 11-29-04, 05:40 AM 1. But we dont know for a fact that we evolved,
2. and you cant prove this wrong
3.so just consider it
4. and yeah, reply.
1. We know it as factually as we know just about anything.
2. Really!
3. I have.
4. I just did.
Now, what on earth was the point of that twaddle? If you want a discussion on a far out idea, I recommend a) post it in pseudo-science where it belongs. b) don't shut down the discussion by telling us what we can and cannot prove.
holyrolling_stone 11-30-04, 05:36 PM darwin himself was quoted saying " to think that evolution/natural selection can bring about an eye (of any kind of creature) is absolute foolishness" so, if evolution were true according to the "father" of evolutionary theory then we would all be blind. he was also quoted saying basically that there are many flaws in his theory and any person who studied it for themselves and found those flaws could rightfully say that the theory was false.
holyrolling_stone 11-30-04, 05:43 PM next, the second law of thermodynamics states basically that adding time and energy to any living system will increase entropy. entropy is increased disfunction. like compost. it degrades. so, evolution can NOT be true because according to this scientific LAW, not theory, everything loses order, it does not get better it gets worse!
CharonZ 12-01-04, 06:22 AM Giggles. Sheesh these are really basic creationistic fallacies repeated about in every forum. First about darwin. His theories had flaws, but not regarding the principles but about the mechanism. This was hardly his fault as at that time e.g. genes were completely unknown. Regarding second law of thermodynamics.
first evolution does not postulate a move towards complexity. In fact natural selection (one of the mechanisms) is the only one shaping evolution and depending on situation it may even benefit simplicism. E.g. bacteria are extremely simple yet successful.
More importantly the second law of thermodynamics applies to closed systems, which does not apply to biological systems!
Maybe a simply picture: babies grow from a single cell, don' t they? No phsycal law broken here either.
Basically it is a misinterpreation of both, evolution and the second law of thermodynamics.
MRC_Hans 12-01-04, 06:47 AM darwin himself was quoted saying " to think that evolution/natural selection can bring about an eye (of any kind of creature) is absolute foolishness" soDarwin was quoted ... is that a second-hand quote, or what  ?
Where did Darwin say that, and in which context?
And whatever Darwin said, a bit of time had passed since, and today we can SHOW how an eye developes.
2nd law of thermodynamics is simply too lame an argument. You KNOW it has been shredded.

spuriousmonkey 12-01-04, 07:19 AM pretty much all I'm saying is that life on any planet would be realitivly very similar to ours.
life might develop into analogous forms as there are on earth, just like there bats and birds, there might be a flying creature that is very similar, because physical and environmental constaints are the same.
next, the second law of thermodynamics states basically that adding time and energy to any living system will increase entropy. entropy is increased disfunction. like compost. it degrades. so, evolution can NOT be true because according to this scientific LAW, not theory, everything loses order, it does not get better it gets worse!
Like Charonz says, the 2nd law of thermodynamics applies to closed systems ie they don't have a constant inflow of energy. This does not apply to living systems on the Earth, because there is a constant influx of solar energy.
Emmveepee 12-03-04, 10:43 PM So you are basically excluding the driving force of Natural Selection and replacing it with just chemical patterns?
Seems very unlikely.
