So.

How does one find out? Perhaps not so much by starting a thread, but can you tell who are psychopathic in nature and tendancy?

Look for someone who can turn their feelings on and off at will.

No, look for someone who has NO feelings at all.

No feelings or inappropriate feelings? Asperger's kinda weirds me out.

No, look for someone who has NO feelings at all.

But if someone can turn their feelings on and off at will what does that suggest?

That their feelings are not genuine, simply an act of will to create an illusion of normality.

The psychopath knows what it is, and attempts to camouflage itself.

Does everyone who has no feelings is a psychopath, why?

No feelings. Only thinks of self and never, ever considers anyone else. And no, people with Asperger's aren't 'that far gone' at all.

Do a poll, see how many killers there are amongst the ranks.

I'm sure there'd be some military types who've been in some "situations".

Please note; not trying to be a smartarse here. Not trying to equate murder and killing, although, in writing that, it is a wierd distinction.

Point being that they CANNOT turn them on - they can only fake it (and many don't even bother). So you have agreed completely without realizing it.

Wouldn't the faking it be the "on" that DeepThought is referring to, with their normal state being "off"? I'd say both of you are saying the same thing.

if they never consider anyone else, how would they function in society? They know how to fake sincerity. They blend.
That's why people with Asperger's weird me out. They don't know how to fake emotion and they don't know how to blend.

I know a kid with Asperger's ( boy of 17), he seems quite a happy soul. He has some unusual interests ( poisonous plants, for example ) and does have trouble with standard communication and social interaction but he's quite pleasant to be around.

To a degree, which I just what I said. :) But the problem is that many of them neither know how to fake it or don't even bother to try. A true psycopath has NO moral sense of right and wrong. To him/her, killing is no different from walking - it's just something to do. They ARE aware, though, that it's not accepted behavior and will get them in trouble if caught. But the thing is that in their MIND it doesn't matter otherwise - it's no more wrong/bad/evil/whatever than eating a hamburger is.

Just a job I was told I must do when I was in the military.

There are probably very, VERY few here that have - and they can have NO idea what it was like, either!!!

Yes, and it was much MORE than just a job - it was matter of survival, not only for me but also for all the men with me.

Did you guys enjoy the military experience? Apart from the outright combat which I imagine is downright scary and freakish.

Not really. As soon as my time was up, I left and never looked back.

Well, I never saw actual hand to hand combat for being a pilot I only dropped weapons from over 50,000 feet in the air so it wasn't the same feeling for me. I had a medical problem and was discharged because of it.

Hey, that's a great talent.

This is why many actors and artists and politicians seem to verge upon psychopathology.

Once feeling and intellect have become separated in the mind, it's all but impossible to reunite them.

Explains some of the religious dribble quite well.
