How to become a pervert?

By having someone interpret you as *they* please, and then acting in accordance with that interpretation.

So sad, but true.

You begin to act in accordance with that interpretation.
You become a pervert.

I’ve always had little problem being labelled a pervert and a miscreant.
I have a particular talent for living up to people’s lowest expectations.
It’s very easy, since people prefer being disappointed by others and thinking of them as examples of their own failures.
Through this hatred of the other the emotions concerning self are expunged and redirected, thusly preventing shame and acceptance in ones self.

I only wish I could overcome my own prejudices and delusions and become just as vile and decrepit as they deserve.

Nah Dude.. you misunderstood her. She's saying that:

By having someone interpret you as *they* please, and then acting in accordance with that interpretation.

one becomes a pervert.

She is not saying that a person necessarily changes due to another person's perception/misperception of that individual.

Perhaps she's right. But acting in ways that people predict can be advantageous to you if calculated correctly, making you, the deceiver (Hey, water, wanna clarify a bit on exactly what you mean by 'pervert'?). I suppose whether or not it makes you a pervert depends on whether your behavior modification is intentional or mere subconscious deference.

Nah, even better way to become a pervert is watching porn all night that shows people fucking goats, cows, horse, whatever animal you prefer.

Or one might start collecting worn panties of small girls...

There are so many ways of becoming/being a pervert, it is a wonder that most people are normal, is it not?

;) ok here's some tid bits i can offer :

travel to places with lots of cool women (generally if your in a city you dont need to travel much ;))
stare at someone you like in particular, (BEWARE! CHOOSE your subject first)
stare at her so much that she starts to get edgy.
you have two options now: (wait actually three ,we"ll talk of third one later ):--> you could go on to her and say a line(something like nice legs(dont add when do they open ;) or you look great today or something),she says thanks and then you start to talk ...take her to room etc etc.... second option is you keep staring untill she becomes edgy and comes to talk you. and then you say all your dirty things about her,i mean something like women of fantasies and shit.. Real perverts only think of weird sexual things, they dont talk or express so i guess this is faking the real thing...oh yeah the third option is to get nailed by her Boy friend if he's there with her.

thats an extreme case, although i would say, a pervert is essentially who is obsessive about sex and wants to do it in weird ways....something like that...

Look, my thread!

Satyr,

I’ve always had little problem being labelled a pervert and a miscreant.
I have a particular talent for living up to people’s lowest expectations.
It’s very easy, since people prefer being disappointed by others and thinking of them as examples of their own failures.
Through this hatred of the other the emotions concerning self are expunged and redirected, thusly preventing shame and acceptance in ones self.

I only wish I could overcome my own prejudices and delusions and become just as vile and decrepit as they deserve.

Question: Can one pervert oneself?
It is a rhetorical question, of course.

§outh§tar,

Why should we believe you?

Why do you ask? Answer this, and you'll answer your question.

Closet Philosopher,

Can a mod please delete this thread?

Why? It deals with a phenomenon that is rampant in our society.
Or do you favour ignorance?

siledre,

that isn't logical or true, I have had lots of people interpret me, incorrectly I might add, I haven't changed and unfortunately neither have they.

Yes, because words alone do not change people. Unless they have the motivation to do so anway.

* * *

apendrapew,

Perhaps she's right. But acting in ways that people predict can be advantageous to you if calculated correctly, making you, the deceiver (Hey, water, wanna clarify a bit on exactly what you mean by 'pervert'?).

Here we go!

I'm using the term "pervert" loosely and generally, in accordance with relativism -- 'someone who has become something he previously claimed he was not'.

I suppose whether or not it makes you a pervert depends on whether your behavior modification is intentional or mere subconscious deference.

Exactly.
But. What worth is a perceived benefit, if it takes a nobody (ie., if a person is without a positively definable self, always changing and adapting) to gain it?

Example: Someone calls you a "An intelligent, objective agent who uses their powers of logic and reason to understand the universe." You think this is mighty well, and you begin acting in accordance with that. But why? What does it bring you?
The person who characterized you so may like you then (ie., you have earned their liking by changing to what they have interpreted you to be).

But is being "an intelligent, objective agent who uses their powers of logic and reason to understand the universe" going to make you happy? What benefits does such perversion actually bring you? None. For those benefits exist only for those that have not become "an intelligent, objective agent who uses their powers of logic and reason to understand the universe" by perversion.

Similar for other characteristics. What good doe sit do *you* if you play stupid, smart, beautiful, ugly, etc. -- if you originally *are* none of these?

* * *

fadeaway humper,

water, you make me sad. Because you always seem sad. And troubled. And defensive.

Don't do that, pretty please?

Aha! I dont' make you sad. Your interpretation of me makes you sad.
But you are also welcome to build and argument, support it with examples, why is it that "I" make you sad.

* * *

Fromthedarksea,

So are you saying that people can deliberately pervert another's character by simply inventing a depiction of them, of their characters?

No.

Or that the perversion is the actual process of deliberately stigmatising their reputations?

No. But see below.

Or that the person in question becomes perverted when he/she begins to impersonate the stigma?

Yes.

I would think that the perversion, or rather, the bastardisation, can only be seen (or interpreted) by the very people who insist on degrading them in the first place. So I think you've got it wrong -- it's the other way 'round.

You've brought up an interesting point: Humans are responsible for eachother and for the images they relate about eachother.

Esp. negative conditioning in children and the youth is very strong -- e.g. constantly tell a child that he is stupid, and he will grow up into an adult thinking himself stupid. The social environment people are exposed to shapes the way we think of themselves -- and often, it perverts them without them actually taking an active role in this.

However, to insist only on this explanation for all cases of perversion, is to take away from humans their free will.
My opening definition was deliberately general and I avoided to make any implication of motives.

Thus, I refine:

1. Someone interprets you.
You begin to act in accordance with that interpretation so as to gain profit.
You become a pervert.

2. Someone interprets you.
You begin to act in accordance with that interpretation so as to avoid (further) hurt.
You become a victim.

Mr.Jack4WAR,

u get horny, and cant control yourself.... better?

Get horny and can't "control yourself"? Ha ha.

Then, you do not *want* to control yourself, for this is what you do all the rest of the time anyway. And all you want, is to get horny so that you can finally release your own shackles, which you otherwise maintain with your "self-control".

* * *

Fromthedarksea,

Nor does getting horny and stuff mean one is a pervert. But accusing others of "being smart and showing off" is to pervert their characters -- because you're assuming something grandiose about them based on a simple choice of words they've used.

In effect, you're perverting their characters in public to others. A very common practice.

Indeed.
Someone misrepresents you, and you then have to make up for the mess they have made, so that you can be seen as yourself by others.
