My mom said tonight that it was uncommon for two members of the same imidiate family to be double jointed. Both my brother and myself are double jointed. Is this common to have two or more double jointed people in the same family? Is it hereditary or just appears here and there spuratically?

It tends to appear more regularly in isolated mountainous populations of humans.
And also, like I said, in nomadic peoples such as carnival folk and gyspies.

Might be worth your while looking up a thing called "Joint Hypermobility Disorder" and the related "Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome". It appears to be hereditary as my Wife, her mother & sister plus a combined 5 daughters are all hypermobile. Whether hypermobile equates to double jointed appears to be a point of contention among medicos.

Not true, every member in my family has double-jointed thumbs; mine go bark the farthest. I can get about 135 degrees. (They bend farther backward then they do forward)

Thanks for the replys. First off I'm not a hick or a carnie though my dad thinks my mom has Gypsy eyes, though that's nothing to go on. My brither can bend his fingers backwards without the use of his other hand and they make a cracking noise. I can do all sorts of things like turn my foot backwards, bend my thumb back until it nearly touches my wrist, turn my wrist a great deal.
