Do you know how area codes were assigned? Do you know why New York got 212 and the Greater Toronto area 905? In the days of the rotary dial, New York was considered an "important" city and can be quickly dialled. 2 - 1 - 2. But the surrounding area of Toronto was considered unimportant and were given 9 - 0 - 5. Nine takes a long time to dial, and the zero takes an even longer time. To calculate the imporance of your area, add the three digits in your area code. If you have a 0 in your area code, add 10. The person with the lowest answer lives in the most important part. My cell phone's area code is 519. That = 14.
By the reasoning New Jersey(201) is most important... Big Bell seems to disagree with public opinionPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
New Jersey (201) is 13... BTW the lowest you can go is 212 or 221. Any other code would not be valid (211 ends in the same to numbers, not valid for an area code), and 1xx starts with a 1 which is not valid for an area code.
I was just looking at the 911 thread and I realized that the number 911 takes a lot more time to dial than it has to. Why does 211 and 311 or even 411 have more importance than our own safety? 911 has an 11 rating for while the other have a rating of 4, 5, or 6. Why is that?
Sounds interesting. Okay, this is gonna suck for me. Let's see Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK 02392 So that's...carry the one...find the square root...subtract 17...27!!! Holy bejesus!!
perhaps the 9 in 911 is so you don't dial it by accident. you have to think about dialing 9 cause it's all the way around the dial. i remember when our only phone was rotary. nyc 212- 5 nassau 516- 12 westch. 914- 14 i'm moving up in life and down in phone number importance
eh? 10 + 9 + 2 + 2 + 3 = 19 + 4 + 3 = 19 + 7 = 26. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Ah yes, I forgot to subtract the one...hee hee.....yeah *whistles* Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
A little research A little research on my part has revealed, through precise mathematical analysis, that my phone number is among the top 2,000,000,000 numbers of any geological age. Since this is the very first geological age in which phones have existed, more study may be warranted.
425 vs 206 I live in the 425 (11), but used to live in the 206 (18). Hmmm ... I wonder when 425 was initiated .... :m:, Tiassa Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
