The only thing Google did right was Gmail. Their search engine is mediocre. Their advertisements are shitty. That's all there is to it.

Dogpile (dogpile.com), MetaSearch, (metasearch.com) SWISH (http://homepage.mac.com/pauljlucas/software/swish) and a few applications that search WAIS and GOPHER databases for research.

I never really liked Google. I prefer <a href="http://www.altavista.com">AltaVista</a>, <a href="http://www.alltheweb.com">AllTheWeb</a>, or <a href="http://search.msn.com">Search.MSN.com</a> (MSN search without all the other crap). I find I get better results.

daguy... you really get better resaults with msn? I dont know how you search but I always get beter resaults with google.(used to use msn, until I figured out that I could always get better searches with google)

Probably any one of the search engines can give any of us far more info than we need. And when you get tuned into how to format your searches on a particular engine, it will become your favorite. But the fact is - in simple computational power, Google has FAR more storage space, bandwidth and CPU cycles at their disposal then any other search site does (so far at least) and so their searches will sift through more data than anybody elses (none of them search anywhere near ALL the web).

Google searches like 8 billion pages. thats a lot. :m:

For web and image search I use Google. It is a very good search engine. I like the directory on google, where it has all the pages categorized. I don't know how anyone can dislike it.
