I have this question for a science project and I think it is so dumb. How should I know how illegal and common drugs affectthe lymph nodes? Can any of you help me?

Well, basically, lymph nodes serve as both distribution points and institutes of higher education throughout the body for Lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, which study any passing foreign material so that they can produce antibodies, killer cells, and other substances to protect the body from the threat.

Not being too sure quite what types of "common" drugs you're asking about, but when it comes to illegal ones you're probably looking at injectable drugs such as amphetamines, heroin, steroids, etc. Injection, especially with dirty needles, introduces nasties into the body which perk up your bodies Lymphocytes interest no end - so that's one possible effect for you there. Production of Lymphocytes produces swelling and discomfort in and around the area of the Lymphnodes.

As to the rest, you're going to have to read your paper more carefully or else ask your science teacher for a few pointers, it's a ludicrously general sort of question as it stands and y'could do with asking something more specific - that's what they're there for, use 'em, make the bugger work for his or her salary.

Hope that helps, all the best... ;)

M'pleasure old man, only sorry it isn't any more, but with such an open ended question, it's hard to pull a definitive answer. Hopefully it's somewhere for you to make a start at anyrate.

G'luck. ;)
