AntonK 03-26-03, 12:06 PM Companies like that usually write their own engines, but some of the smaller ones use high end 3d software like 3D Studio MAX or LightWave or Maya all of which range in price from 3,000 dollars to 10,000 dollars. There are some free 3d software packages but none of them really compare to the commercial ones. For gaming though, Discreet puts out a software package called gMAX for doing game modeling, that is free. -AntonK grazzhoppa 03-26-03, 05:37 PM Take a graphic course in high school and try to "borrow" the program CD's. My brother got 3D Studio Max, Bryce 4, and Photoshop for nothing by using the school's CD and the school's special license.....I don't think the teacher knew about it :D Avatar 03-26-03, 09:27 PM Originally posted by grazzhoppa Take a graphic course in high school and try to "borrow" the program CD's. I'm not exactly rich. Maybe I should just keep working on my animation skills (okay, I don't really have that many yet, but i WILL get some) and go into Disney. Hell, I'm good at drawing now, I still have NINE years to go. THat's an assload of time. You guys should see how much i improve in just months, not to brag, but hey, someones gotta. Avatar 03-29-03, 07:13 PM Disney is bankrupt you ca get software for free sargentlard 03-29-03, 11:35 PM kazaa lite...not kazaa but kazaa lite...i got everything in fine and working condition from there: Maya. lightwave etc... . I don't trust their games though...they have decent versions it's just that the bastards rename them. Oh also Creamsoda this software is no where near easy to use. A lot of people think that since they can apply pretty effects in photoshop to their pictures that they can handle any software out there. I've personally tried light wave and let me tell you...you need math skills for 3d animation.....this sorta stuff really isn't for everybody. Getting them isn't hard it's using them that's the pain. I suggest you try G-max from www.discreet.com. It's free and a small download compared to others. creamsoda 03-31-03, 11:59 AM What do you mean Disney is bank rupt? (tears in eyes) oh...I feel so bad for all those guys who worked on Treasure Planet. It was a really great movie, but for some reason it died in the box office. I WONDER HOW FINDING mEMO WILL DO. Hmmm...and here i'm going to work there...dear god, what am i getting myself into? Soulcry 04-01-03, 12:55 AM Bryce and Poser are my favorite. Your imagination is your only limit with these software packages. Maya has a free learning version these days. You can download it from their website. I also like to work with Truespace. Check the magazine 3dworldmag.com . This magazine gives every issue free 3d software. I hope this helps |
