View Full Version : How do you WANT or THINK worldmap looks in 50 years?
Vortexx 12-09-02, 06:01 AM What is your idea of how the worldmap should/will look in 50 years?
- should North and South Korea become united? If so should North join south or vice-versa?
- should Taiwan become district of china?
- Should jordan be palestine?
- will russians be paying with euro's?
Describe me your worldmap and tell me what you think SHOULD or COULD happen and WHY
Asguard 12-09-02, 06:05 AM u should all be servants of australia:p
Isreal will be gone. The entire region will be argued over by the various Islamic nations who trashed the place, but they will be developing into a new multi-national group such as the EU. Maybe called the Islamic League or something like that.
The USA will be far more militant. It's intelligence agencies and military will have far more control over its own citizens. The USA will be rather isolated as far as international politics is concerned.
China will be where it is now, but forging ahead very fast into high-tech industries. They will be an incredible force in high-tech manufacturing en masse.
Taiwan will lose significance.
North and South Korea will not join one way or the other, just together. Korea will be whole again within 15 years.
Australia will have had a war with Indonesia. Nobody will win. Just lots of dead people around Darwin, followed by Australia fortifying the north coast.
Disease and famine will kill half of India, or else they and Pakistan will nuke each other back into a radioactive stone age.
Squid Vicious 12-09-02, 07:11 AM Pretty much the same as it does now, with the same or different groups of people fighting over the same or different chunks of dirt.
North and South Korea will unite
Israel will become a US territory like Puerto Rico
England will reunite with US become 51st State. Scotland and Wales will be independent. Northern Ireland will reunite with Ireland.
Japan will lose significance. (The average age of work force in Japan is 55 right now in case you don't know.)
China will be a force in a big way.
Taiwan, whose economy is already larger than Holland and Belgium combined, will develop a nitch and become totally dominant in semiconductor and PC industry. I predict any companies that will emerge to challenge Microsoft and Intel will come from Taiwan
Africa will still be the same. Half of the population will be dying from STD's. There will be no white people in Africa 50 years from now.
Dollar will replace Rubel as the official Russian currency.
US will speak pre-dominantly Mexican Spanish. People who still prefer English will be called a "stupid conservative".
Europe will become Islamic
80% of the world's population will live in India.
Australia will have had a war with Indonesia. Nobody will win. Just lots of dead people around Darwin, followed by Australia fortifying the north coast.
Adam, just curious. In your scenario, what would be the most likely reason for Australia to go to war with Indonesia?

1) Australia's government will continue doing what it is told by the USA and the UN. This will anger Islamic nations in particular.
2) Indonesia is the world's largest Islamic nation, and is a mere 12 hours away by ship.
3) Australia's special forces units will be asked by the USA and UN to go on missions within Indonesia, which of course will upset everyone.
4) Upsetting nations and causing division is actually the desired goal of the USA at the moment, as it allows them to build an "us and them" situation, which is good for their economy and good leverage in international relations.
5) Due to Australian provocation (those missions) and the rising tensions around the world, Indonesia will attack Darwin. Not with the purpose of actually securing territory, but simply to kick Australia's arse for a little while. Indonesia's government will know that both sides will lose people, but they have such a huge army that they won't mind; politicians are bastards and are often quite happy to get their soldiers killed.
6) When the cost of the exercise runs out to the budgeted limit, Indonesia will withdraw, and a new set of border treaties will be worked out.
So, Vichy Adam, are you going to pick up a loaded gun to defend your homeland from the evil Indonesian hordes, or are you just going to hold up a piece of painted-letter cardboard that protests evil Austrailian provocation of the invasion to earn brownie points with the invaders?
At least try for something rational...
Rational is lost on you. You only see what you want to see--what you can see.
Plausible scenario, Adam. If things persist the way they are now, it might not take 50 years.
But there is always the prospect of terrorism as "weapon of choice" for ill-equipped countries that cannot afford to win a conventional war. Indonesia could go cheap and secretly fund terrorist cells in Australia to blow things up. That way they can put up a diplomatic face and still kick some butts.
That is very true. But I think that if we went as far as state-sponsored hostilities, the politicians would want it public, to embarrass Australia. I also think that the moment another country starts backing guerilla attacks in Australia, our ASIS chaps will be blowing things up in those countries.
From John Moore, M. P., Minister of Defence, as printed in the Australian Defence Force White Paper 2000, section 3.6:
Domestically, the United States will continue to accept the human and material costs of supporting causes that directly touch its vital interests.
It's really quite an interesting little book. I had the hardcopy delivered last year.
Interesting quote, Adam. Although I'm slightly puzzled. When he said "domestically" was he referring to Australia or United States? It appears as if he was saying United States is okay with human and material cost incurred in Australia as long as it serves their vital interest.
I must admit I'm lost as to the context of that quote. If he's saying what I think he is saying, then I must agree - politicians are bastards who are quite happy to get their soldiers killed.
Illuminatus 12-11-02, 10:19 AM In 13 years, there wont be many people left to make any changes.
He was referring to in the USA. He talks abit about how the USA military acts overseas to pursue US interests, and Australia supports it because it's in our interest to do so.
