Just a question for all you folks: How did you come across this forum? And what convinced you to join it? I found out about it from Pollux, but I bet there are a lot more interesting stories out there. Let's hear 'em please!

I saw a Discovery Channel special on time/space and had forgotten something when I turned the program on. So....I searched the web, found a post from sciforums on time and the universe and got interested. Then I eventually found some post that I wanted to argue with, so I joined.

It was some search engine featuring something called 'off the beaten path'. Found it when I was researching religions for my 1st novel. Was immediately hooked by the intelligent posts and debates.

I remember with fondness from those days, Mooncat the new age witch, Boris the brainiest chap ever to grace the forums, Lori the sexy born again Christian and her constant bitching with Flash our endearing lesbian. Tiassa of course was there though it was hard to comprehend his literary ramblings in the beginning, though I quickly learnt to appreciate his more lucid posts and I would in fact nominate him to be our very own poet laureate. Then there was TrueStory a serious Christian, intelligent and with a sense of humour who sadly died mid thread. Dexter was just 13 couldn't spell to save his life and felt a little insecure about debating all the big questions and shit, said if his friends found out they'd freak, or words to that effect, I haven't seen any of his posts in a long time. I didn't check in for about a year and most of the old crowd seem to have disappeared, more's the pity.

Hmmm, this one ties with the demographics thread in suggestions.

I was at another forum, who had the annoying use of popup adds. Funny thing was, the admistrators of the board would ignore all requests from the members to remove or change the more irrating ads. I finally had enough, did a search for other forums. This one seemed the most appealing and have been here eversince.

I have heard of other members mention of days gone by, before I came to exosci. By some of the occasional stories I have heard, I wished I had came sooner. But no sense in bemoaning oppurtunites missed, it is still a fine site.

Well, some of the old crowd are still hanging on. I joined when this was exosci, from an altavista (remember that?) search engine. At the time I was chastized for suggesting a spelling system in the forum. My original posts are gone. I had to re-join the forum.

Since then, I have joined a few other business forum suggested by fortune, businessweek, wired etc but the activity there is so slow, I forget my password and then that became the end. I also joined a site that promoted the vision of gene rodenberry (the star trek creator) and found it to be like the blind leading the blind.

Sometimes, I try out ideas on this forum to see what the response will be after debating with my friends on a specific topic. For example, if people do not know, who you are, and you say an advanced idea as if it is a fact (because you have designed and built it successfully), most people would refused to believe it. However if the same information is read from a NASA or CNN site, then it becomes the fact. Which is interesting because there is a lot of gray area in environmental science, nuclear technology etc. - and it is difficult to argue without spilling the beans about certain business practices. So, I try to hint a little for the people who want to know the truth...but rarely could use it....

    So...is Life...

I came here in may or april of last year I think, back then I remember tablariddim there and wet1, kmguru too, also that guy with the boxing asian guy who's name starts with an m, I loved that dude's avatar. I came here and posted a theory on how time moved through different dimensions, I even did a search and found my very first post, but to this day I still have absolutely no clue as to how I found it. Eventually after a month or two I got bored and forgot about it, then I came back later in the year after more prominent sciforumers like Banshee and Stryderuknown had established themselves, and then here I am.

This means that really everyone who has ever joined here because of my suggestion, people like Cactus Jack, Oedipus, Lesion, Psycho, Rasputin (who has yet to post), this means that they lack any creation myth. As far as I know I woke up one day in april or may of 2000 and sciforums was on the web browser, and a divine being spoke from atop my monitor and said 'here is your sanctuary of science, go here to learn and to unlearn.'

There is ever polluxian's creation myth right there.

When I first hit the net I found myself stareing at a bulletin board at www.the-park.com, my search... it was simply "Sven Vath Daniel Poole" that's all I wrote and it was in a Yahoo search, because back then there was no altavista as it is now, and google... well they just weren't advertised.

I started life there as a bit of a conspiracy theorist... Always trying to jump a new angle on subjects. Later I started to get more into trying to work out how to design things, and might of mentioned of my intensions.

In 1999 I left the park for a while in the capable hands of the moderator called "Wildheart", and returned in 2001 after an absence from the net. It was odd to come back after such a break, when I left I had tried to be as cutting edge as possible with my scripting and a bunch of other stuff. When I came back, everything I knew was obselete, so I had to restart from scratch again. (Yep.. no more Javascript 1.1 and a few other bits and pieces)

Back at the forum, the moderator became sick, Sick of Cancer. The Lady died last year after taking more and more time from the board.
She will be missed by myself and all the old board members I'm sure.

So myself and a few other now nomad board hoppers, had to find a new home, because that board was underfunded and going bankrupt and in all due respect it wasn't the same without Wildheart.

One of the nomads found here, and slowly... we began to take up a new residence. Some of the members here are actually from the old board, and I'm glad they came as to tell you the truth they've added to the texture and flavour of these forums.

Well... I'm standing outside the Piggly Wiggly sharing a Ring Ding with Elvis when this bum walks up to us. So I reach for my wallet to get a buck and the guy says, "Bless you sir... I'm a victim of corporate downsizing." I glance at Elvis and see rage grow in his eyes.

"Save your money for REAL victims," he says. Turning to the bum, he hollars "Yeah, that's right! REAL victims! People who have been chronically and systematically screwed over by the system because the United States is a Chrisitan racist nation with a rigged economic system run for over 300 years by the least morally qualified of the two sexes!"

So the bum starts backing away and Elvis starts walking after him, driving home his point with a finger thumping the guy's chest. And then...

...well, anyway, Elvis had the SciForums URL tattooed on his bicep.

I was fasting in the wilderness, having spent 40 days eating nothing but locusts and honey, when I heard a loud booming voice:

    "XEV! XEV!"

I jumped, and the voice repeated itself:

    "XEV! XEV! Fear not"

I turned to the source of the voice, and a bush burst into flames, and kept talking to me:

    "XEV! XEV! www.skepticnews.com!"

Well, they had a link to a forum topic on somthing astronomical in nature. I backtracked through the forums and registered for the hell of it.

I think it was somthing monumentally stupid that TruthSeeker aka Nelson said that made me delurk.

I did a search on a search engine, don't remember which one it was (i usually use google or lycos). And it came up, and i checked it out, thought it looked cool, bookmarked it, didn't come back for a couple months, then got bored one day and decided to come back and explore it. I think what decided it for me was i saw Xev insulting someone (probably Nelson), and ripping off my clothes to reveal the superhero suit underneath, i shouted,

"This bickering must stop, once and for all! Alternate Universe Man to the rescue!!!"

and then i heroically clicked on the register button.

    Well, Since you asked...

One day the rain was pouring down from the heated miday sky. I remembered a thought I had about the hyperspace book be Micho Kuku, and typed Hyperspace into the google search bar, and was taken deep into the heart of Sciforums.com, and i began to peal back the onion like layers, and i eventualy found myself naked in the middle of a huge forum where there was pure mayhem and a little developed conversation. I was given my clothes by Cris, and esp, (where is he anyway???) Then I became the "Concider This" guy....I prefer spelling wrong!!!

I stopped posting for a while, but after deep meditaion, and prayer, I woke from my hybernative state, and decided to let all my wisdom onto this lost place called Sciforums.com!! (well maybe not wisdom...spelling errors!)

And NObody know my real name, age, you can guess my sex, This will soon be reveilled by game in the Free thought forum!!

    (Ender's Game)...haha!
