House of a 1,000 Corpses

It's a movie by Rob Zombie. Here's what I have to say:

What the fuck? Like seriously, Rob, what the fuck? How can any one human being go through with what Rob Zombie went through with? What the fuck? This movie, for those who haven't seen it, is fucked. It's fucked beyond any possibilty of me explaining it's level of fuckedness. The movie starts off with this black-and-white real old-fashioned clip of what looks like a beginning to a movie-night, hosted by Dr. Wolfenstein. It quikcly transforms itself into a shot of a fucked up clown-like-thing and a hick. I don't want to give anything away, but this movie crossed I think almost every line that horror film makers are not allowed to cross. Nothing, I repeat, nothing was holy to this film. The only thing I didn't see was actual full nudity of a rape, and a baby in the act of being killed. Everything else was more or less in there. Me and my friends sit around and talk about this shit. We have a plan for a movie called Vile of everything sick you can think of (i.e. taking a four year old kid and throwing him against a wall, keeping the camera on the bleeding skull and such), and we've always joked about this kind of sick shit. Rob Zombie made it manifest. I loved every single second of this movie. Honestly, the only way to describe this film is beautiful.

Disclaimer! - I was really quite stoned when I saw this (and am now, as well). So I may be over-valuing the sickness of this movie. But I guarantee that 95% of people will find this movie disgusting. I love it. I hope you can to.

Upon sober recollection of the movie, I still have no idea what I truly think about it. I really need to see this movie again. One thing I guarantee you is that it is a cult-classic-type movie. It's the kind of movie your local alternative-theatre shows once every two months and every two months the same 140 people crowd into the theatre and cheer every so often. It's not quite Rocky Horror, and not exactly Clockwork Orange, but it's some demented mix of those types of movies and 70's horror movies. I think it's quite possible the total disgustingness of this movie was overvalued by me because of the pot. Of course, it's also equally possible that I found it less disgusting for the same reason! As of now, my opinion stands that it was brilliant. It wasn't brilliant in the sense that the script was amazing, or that the acting was great, or that the story was even that original. It was brilliant in the sense that it was disgusting, but not in such a way that it was insulting to my intelligence (though, while stoned, very little is insulting to my intelligence, I suppose), it was brilliant in the sense that it was one of the most messed up things I've ever seen, and it was brilliant in that I left the movie knowing less about it then I knew going in. If you like drugs, and/or you like anything dark, demonic, evil, bondage-oriented, or anything along those lines..... I advise seeing this movie at some point. But see it in a theatre.

Is it a Faces of Death type movie? I can't stand those :(

Rob Zombie is hereby proclaimed God. I worship Rob Zombie and you should too.

This movie is what would happen if you got Hieronymus Bosch and the Marquis de Sade together and fed them acid and pot while playing heavy metal music. I swear to fucking God (who art Rob Zombie) that this is the fucking shit. Words cannot express the vileness or the dementia of this movie - it is absolutely indescribable. I mean this is sick, utterly fucking sick. There is none sicker.

See this movie. See this movie, see this movie and worship Rob Zombie.

If a young women in a rabbit suit being graphically murdered by a beautiful, psychotic necrophiliac, or a man being tortured while said necrophiliac dances to "Brick House" doesn't do it for you, just stay the fuck away from me because you have absolutely no sense of humour.

It seems that for once, we can agree, Xev.
I enjoyed the movie for all of the gore and the cinematography. It was more or less what I expected from Mr.Zombie - excellent work!

I read an article that said it was his attempt at a horror movie perfect for the drive-in. He really does capture that atmosphere
in the film.

I was a little dissappointed though. I was expecting it to be more creepy, suspenseful even. SOme of the plot and characters could have been developed a bit more to make it creepier. Or, as me and a fellow movie buff were discussing, it would be interesting to watch a version of this movie that had a narrator with a voice similar to Vincent Price - or even Rob Zombie himself!
-just a thought.

But the splatteresque aspect works as well. I haven't had difficulty digesting my popcorn in a long time!

Overall, this movie has been worth waiting for. Horror movies are ridiculous these days. In the not so good way. They're beyond cheesie because they're trying so hard to be original and have the coolest effects.

Rob Zombie of course would never stoop to such a level. He's amazing. He makes this style look easy.

Also, to all those who dressed up, kudos.
note: if you send in pics to the rob zombie website (robzombie.com) he'll send you an autographed pic of himself and a t-shirt or something.

Let me put it this way:
Last year in Canada (it may have been two years ago now, actually) there was big news over two art students who filmed a cat being tortured, skinned, and killed. This movie disturbed me more than their's did at times.

Nope, not that I know of. And it really was disgusting because it actually happened. As I recall, the film started with them cutting the cat's hair, and moved on to the cat being cut, nailed to a wall (I think. It was either nailed or stapled or put up with a knife. I think it was the last one, actually), partially skinned and then had organs removed before finally dieing. And, like I said, this was all real-life. Not a film. Not scripted, no director. It was two art students who thought torturing and killing a cat was a good idea.

They never, I don't think, showed the entire video on the news. And every time they showed clips it was with strict warning before hand.

And as for seeing House of 1,000; your local alternative theatre, as I said before, should have it.

did they consider that artistic expression or something????...because i would give them a f and a swift kick in the ass.

Also if it was all real life then how did the news have footage of it?????

They taped it. It was suppose to be artistic. Something to do with death, obviously, and pain. They actually submitted the tape to their prof, as I recall.

They got some jail time, I believe. I'll try and find an article for you.

Hmmm, I can't find a site with a description of the tape. Best I can offer you is a small bit of transcript (and various updates on the prisoners and their sentances, if you like):

An unidentified voice: "I want to cut open its belly while it's still alive and watch everything moving around."

Power: "Why don't we just slit its throat and let it bleed?"

(Power saws at the cat's throat with a straight edge razor.)

Matt (another individual, a street person, involved in the exercise; he's still at large): "Whoa, look at his intestines!"

(Power lifts the cat's legs and begins to skin it from its belly. The cat is still alive.) Matt stabs at the animal, which is still alive, with a large buck knife: "Let's tack it to the wall."

This is done, with the cat crying throughout. Wennekers removes the knife and impales it more firmly.

Powers: "Beautiful, man."

(The cat, still not dead, mewls and lifts its paw toward Powell. Matt uses pliers to remove an ear. Power continues sawing at the cat's throat. Wennekers uses a dental tool to remove the animal's eye. The cat shrieks in pain.)

Power: "Doesn't bleed much, does it."

Matt: "You got to get it through the heart."

Wennekers: "Let's find its heart."

(Wennekers stabs the cat in the heart. The cat falls from the wall, both Matt and Wennekers continue to stab it.)

Power: "Let's get this f-----."

Wennekers and Matt kick the cat.

Matt: "Let's slice it right down the middle."

(Power wipes the knife blade on the cat's head. Then he slits open the chest cavity, holds the opened chest against his nose and inhales deeply.)

Most of what's on this transcript wasn't shown to the public. The most we got was the audio track. I can safely say this is the most disgusting thing I've ever read, heard or seen, which happened in reality.

Oh wow!!!! that is seriously disturbing....what were those guys thinking. I mean Damn....these guys are violent and methodical.

How come the cat was still living for so long even after taking so much damage???

Good lord that is some sick shit....and Tyler you mean to tell me House of a 1000 ghosts is more disturbing than this?

BTW thanks for the article...even though i am dazed now.

I know. No matter how many times I tell people how sick what they did was, nobody believes until they actually hear the details. It's really quite sick. The one guy, the main one, Jessie Power, use to work at a museum where he picked the skin off dead animals to be set up. As for why the cat lived, don't ask me. Like I said, they wouldn't show the last bit of the tape.

Well, if you take it out of the context of reality, house of a thousand is more disturbing. Simply because the cat thing is real, I'm still much more put off by it. Much more. But if I saw both knowing that they were fake, or both as real - House of 1,000 would defintely be more disturbing.

Well, I read through most of that link you gave me. It's safe to say that this shit is indeed very disgusting, but I think the boys were punished appropriately. They really didn't intend to cause an uproar in the community with their project, just get a nice grade in the class. But still, this is sick shit at its sickest...
