House Republican Leader Boehner could be the next speaker of the House if Republicans manage to take control of the House this fall. But what do people know about Boehner besides his perpetual orange tan?

Well for starters let's look at his long and loving relationship with lobbyists and special interests. Congressman Boehner has been know to bend over backwards for his lobbyist friends including handing out checks from lobbyists to his Republican collegues on the floor of the House.

"Mr. Boehner won some of his first national headlines in 1996 after he was caught handing out checks from tobacco lobbyists to fellow Republicans on the House floor. Then the fourth-ranking House Republican, he said he had broken no rules and was simply assisting his lobbyist friends, who were contributing to other Republicans’ campaigns."

So if you liked the Republican initiated Auto Industry bailout and the bank bailout you are going to like Boehner.

"Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio and other Republican leaders summoned more than 100 industry lobbyists and conservative political activists to Capitol Hill for a private strategy session.

Representative John A. Boehner arriving for a fund-raiser for Ann Marie Buerkle, a House candidate from New York.
The bill’s passage in the House already seemed inevitable. But Mr. Boehner and his deputies told the Wall Street lobbyists and trade association leaders that by teaming up, they could still perhaps block its final passage or at least water it down.

“We need you to get out there and speak up against this,” Mr. Boehner said that December afternoon, according to three people familiar with his remarks, while also warning against cutting side deals with Democrats.

That sort of alliance — they won a few skirmishes, though they lost the war on the regulatory bill — is business as usual for Mr. Boehner, the House minority leader and would-be speaker if Republicans win the House in November. He maintains especially tight ties with a circle of lobbyists and former aides representing some of the nation’s biggest businesses, including Goldman Sachs, Google, Citigroup, R. J. Reynolds, MillerCoors and UPS." -New York Times

Republican Leader Boehner is well known for his close and mutually beneficial relationships with lobbyists.

It seems to me all the Tea Partiers, if they are succesful in electing Republicans this fall and giving control of the House back to Republicans, are just electing more of the same and electing the same people who caused this mess to positions of higher power.

It is kind of like promoting the guy who drove the company into the ground...makes a lot of sense?

Oh, and here are some another recent Boehner interviews....the guy is extremely evasive when the interviewer tired to pin him down on what exactly Republicans would do to control spending.

Show just how much you pay attention, is seems that you and joe want to only pin the whole thing on the republicans........when it is the Federals in Washington City, all of them who are to blame.

Just because I love to shoot holes in joes "Thread trolling blame only the republicans rants", doesn't mean that I do not assign a fair share of the blame for the problem to Republicans also, but since joe seems to have that end more than covered, I just add in the conveniently forgotten details by joe.

If joe took the time to nailed the democrats (as often as He tries to put the whole blame on the Republicans), for their, more than fair share of contribution to the nation's problems, I would have a major problem finding anything to disagree with Him on.

Now if you disagree with Republians and blame them for the problems they created, please explain why you want to put the same guys back into power mr. buffalo roam. And why would you want mr. Boehner as House Leader? Mr. Boehner is the Republican leader in the House and by tradition would be the next Speaker if Republicans take back the House.

Now since you think there is some party equivalency between the evil doers in Washington. Please show a case where a senior Democrat leader passed out lobbyist checks on the foor of the House?

You are one of those who want to put Republicans back in power. And when your leaders are caught with their hands in the cookie jar, you simply dismiss it as well both parties do it in equal measure. Strange thing, you can never prove that claim. And in any case, that is not reason to put those people back in positions of power.

Another funny thing mr. roam, when you are smearing Democrats with falsehoods and lies...you never mention that equivalency thing. It is only when Republicans get nailed that you bring out the equivalency claim...funny how that works isn't it.

LOL, only in your dreams buffalo roams. You mean like this: http://www.sciforums.com/showpost.php?p=2617728&postcount=53

Now I suggest you stop trolling and get back on the subject...which is our dear mr. boehner potentially becoming our next Speaker of the House and his passing out checks for lobbyists on the floor of the House...serving as pay master for those lobbyists and special interests that Tea Partiers are supposed to be against. As I recall former Republican Congressman Tom Delay had similar problems when he was in the House.

So then what exactly is the point of the thread if not the perception of corruption? Is it that politicians converse with lobbyists? Doubt it! Is that only republicans do this? Doubt it, although in your world there is only one source of corruption (oops there's that word again)!

So if it isn't about the perception of corruption, then once again you have gotten away with posting drivel that doesn't get closed or some type of warning.

It seems pretty clear that your overall point is that a corrupt politician may end up being the speaker of the house. But not according to you, so what is your point? As usual you have no point, you just lack for the DNC.

Wake up mr. galt. Boehner did more that get solicite. He actively solicited teh lobbyists and did their work for them by handing out their checks on the floor of the House.

Now surely you can see the difference?

As much as you would want the spotlight removed from the new potential seaker of the House, the thread is about the potential new Speaker of the House.

I find it funny that you want to change that to corruption in general. There have been many threads about corruption in Washington. If that is what you want to discuss, go reopen onf of those threads. It is odd that the only thing you can say about Boehner is that is he is corrupt, so what.

But if you want to contribute something that will help people understand Boehner, go for it.

You seem to be equating Boehner with corruption and then making excuses for him (e.g. well everybody does it). Well everybody doesn't do it. And name me one besides Boehner you has passed out checks from lobbyists on the floor of the House.
