I look at this issue and see a different problem from the media. Homosexual doesn't bother me. Marriage bothers the piss out of me. Marriage should not be a legal anything. Everyone should get a legal union, with a religious marriage being incidental and unnecessary. This is a seperation of church and state issue.

    What do you think?

I was going to do a poll, but I have no idea how to get all of the possible options verbalised.

Click on Thread Tools to the upper right side of your opening post and select add a poll to this thread.

Gay marriage: sure, why should only straight people suffer? They have every right to be as miserable as we are.

Just ask yourself how you would feel if someone said "I don't have a problem with black people, but I have a big problem with them marrying white people".

String, homosexuals can get married in India. May have to go to a temple convert to Hinduism then do the ring aroung the rosy with Agni Sakshi [the Fire god as witness]. But it can happen.

Of course we also have a Victorian law against homosexuality, but the marriage will still be legal [don't ask]

Curiously enough, you can even find an imam in Pakistan to marry you off:

Of course, it may turn out to be a trifle more exciting than you anticipated:

    But hey, you're still married!!!

Originally, people simply got together. How long they stayed together depended on what those individuals wanted/needed. Families seemed more stable thus beneficial to those individuals & to the tribe. Once long term couples outnumbered others, there was pressure to conform.
The law/government & the church became so involved in order to have more control over people.
    Marriage means joining together.
The death of my best friend & her last 2 months of life a few months ago would've been much less of a nightmare if we'd been legally married.

Sometimes ignorance is shocking, sometimes hilarious & sometimes both.

Stranger-Thank you for the insight into who you are. I am sorry for your loss, and will not question you on the details, as they sound traumatic. I am honored that you felt comfortable enough to reveal yourself like this, however. I have heard of many similar tales.

This is why I want to delegalize marriage, making it a religious rite only, and legal joining of entities placed into a strictly secular code. Who could argue against allowing this form of equality? If it's religious recognition you want, there are a number of willing pastors, teachers, and priests who will join you "in the eyes of God". Material joining and legal next of kin status? A few papers to sign at the courthouse and a small fee.

Legal contracts would have eliminated any and all of those "nightmares" for you if you'd gone to an attorney earlier.

As long as they can sign on the dotted line, or otherwise show agreement to a representative of the state, sure. We don't want you forcing your dog or sheep into a union against their will. Perhaps they are just in it for the sex.

No. A goat does not posses the faculties to enter into a contract. A human does.

    Can't! You live there!

But if you didn't live there, I might like to move into Dharavi ..or however you spell it. That looks like a nice place to live.
