View Full Version : Hitler saved by Brits.
Hemlock 09-15-03, 06:29 AM According to the Independent on Sunday (September 17th, Page 18), an assasination attempt by the Allies in July 1944 failed because Hitler was treated by high grade penicillin.
'Penicillin had originally been discovered in 1928, but was not produced in purified form until later development work had been carried out in Oxford in 1940'. The report goes on to say 'The secret of how to make the new high-grade penicillin was handed over to the Americans.
Against British wishes, the Americans supplied neutral powers such as Spain and Argentina with the high-grade material as well. Almost certainly, small quantities then found their way from one of these countries to top Nazi medics including, it appears, Hitler's doctor who, it is now thought, treated Hitler with it after a bomb detonated close to where he was sitting'
Does anyone know if there is any truth in [I]any of this story (The assasination attempt, the British giving Americans the secret of high-grade penicillin, hitler's life being saved by it etc.)? I have never before heard anything about any of this, and I suspect there is little truth in any of it.
adam2314 09-15-03, 07:10 AM Yes the assasination attempt is true.
Hemlock 09-15-03, 09:19 AM Wow I didn't know that!!! Thanks! :)

General Claus Schene Graf Stauffenburg. 1944 was the attempt that you may be hearing about..

Yeah, it is true, the bomb apparently was placed by a table leg that was very thick that deflected the bomb blast. Apparently, it made Hitler even more paranoid and ended up in the deaths of several important generals, namely Rommel. Correct me if I am wrong on this.
Some think it would have been good if Hitler had died, but I wonder if that could have put more competent people in charge, either prolonging the war or allowing the Nazis to consolidate their holdings and keep them.
The Red Dwarf sketch is hilarious, I liked Hitler's furry handcuffs!:D
Psycho-Cannon 09-15-03, 10:46 AM Rofl yeah, hmm you had a good point there though, Hitler really screwed up (Thankfully) near the end where he got so paranoid he totally took charge of everything his army did over riding his generals and surrounding himself with yes men instead of letting his competent generals take the advantage and carry on as they were before which was working.
If he had of died i'm sure another would of stepped up behind him to carry on the war and they would quite possably of been less unstable than Hitler had become.
Now what was that line.
Q: If you could go back in time and kill Hitler as a baby would you do it?
A: No, because as a baby i was to small to kill Hitler.

Taking it seriously, I would probably not kill Hitler (or anyone else). It is imposible to even imagine how the world would be today if Hitler never existed.
Psycho-Cannon 09-15-03, 02:03 PM aye its scary to think that killing him may actually save the war for the Nazis or at least drag it out longer as he would not be there for his decline into paranoia that took down the Nazi's at the very end.
SuperFudd 09-15-03, 02:42 PM I am sure those who attempted Adolfs assaination had plans to take control and sue for peace.
Psycho-Cannon 09-16-03, 03:59 AM Also possable...it was you wasnt it!

The Generals behind the plot wanted to talk peace.
Many of them knew that the war was lost the day the German army invaded Russia .
That was long before America came into it .

Your right. When they tortued one of the conspiritors Rommels name came out. Although people are still undecided wether he was something to do with it or not. But the way Rommel died wasn't publicly known. A couple of generals came around his house one day and offered him two choices - to commit suicide and retain his military honours and safety of his family or face public trial and have his family perhaps killed or taken to a labour camp.

Its strange to think that he could of easily been killed in WW1. I can remember at the least he was shot and once was blinded by gas. Just imagine if the bullet had strayed just a bit and caused his death. I think he was a messenger, which was a dangerous job.
Mystech 09-18-03, 05:46 PM What I want to know is how does penicillin save you from a bomb blast? I'm not medical expert, but I just don't see how that works out.
sweet Pentax 09-18-03, 06:28 PM it wasnīt the penicillin .... rather it was cocaine ;)
in fact ,he was one of the biggest comsumer of this time !
ps : he loved drugs SOO much that he even gave his soldiers "good stuff" (you know ,for a "good figth" ) :D )
DeSeRt RaT UK 09-19-03, 01:39 AM aint called crack troops for nothing :D
Vortexx 09-19-03, 02:44 AM ...you mean meth....
It is said that Hitler during the war had is personal doctor frequently inject him with meth, so that he could be tweaking for days and watch/command the battle unfold.
Likely, later on, this meth addiction must have impaired his judgement like made him overly confident (like in the russian case, overriding his own generals) and paranoid, leading to all sortsa strategically bad decisions.
sweet Pentax 09-19-03, 04:24 AM meth is methadone ,right ?
i donīt know about his meth ... but iīm pretty sure that he also took cocaine a lot ! i read it some time ago in a good book !
of course ,that doesnīt mkae the story about meth wrong ;)
hehe ,i think he even took some other drugs ;just look how crazy he spoke !!!
Vortexx 09-19-03, 01:51 PM not like methadone, more like methamphetamine, a german invention incidentaly...
