Dave, I have been quite content to be a contributor here and have never questioned the origins of excosci. But now I am curious. Can you tell me why excosci started, its purpose and objectives, who is involved, and how it is financed, and anything else you might consider interesting. And I guess, future plans. Thanks Cris

Anyway, Dave ... I'm sorry to say that the e-mail accounts I got my AUFORA newsletters from (I also recall your first invitation e-mail to Exosci, but alas ... 'tis lost) has long-since been closed, due to lack of use, due to my intolerance for the interface of that particular service (and I'm not complaining about Hotmail, for once). Sadly, I couldn't get the images from the AUFORA page, but there's any of a billion reasons why, so I'm not concerned. (I thought about reconnecting my iMac to the network, what with the Apple ad and everything. But nobody was impressed with the part about the drill and the ceiling the first time, so ... Cris-- Unless I'm mistaken, I believe AUFORA is the origin for this page. I remember getting an e-mail about Exosci saying that there was so much more to do with a site like this than just Ufos, so everyone come on over. I keep hoping Dave will choose to chime in with a few of the specifics. tiassa, Thanks, that was my impression from what I saw. I'm rapidly forming the opinion that exosci is a one man show (Dave), which simply makes the site achievment more impressive. Or is that conclusion obvious to everyone except me (please note my past references to my gullibility, ignorance and low IQ)? Cris
Cris-- I had assumed a one-man show for a long time; in fact, until Porfiry's news clippings, I hadn't known anyone else was involved. I do agree, though, that this is a quietly impressive site. I see commercial sites with teams of designers that can't get a consistently quality page the way Exosci does. I always figured that if the site lasts long enough (until Dave's just sick of it, or such), and when I finally finish my damn book, I would get a number of graphic designs from people and make t-shirts to wear for my book tour. (Floater, my favorite band, gets my first national appearance; how big is my F-ing ego? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! ) But I always wanted to sit on Maher's panel in a black t-shirt with a little blue "exosci.com" scrawled on the front of it. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's the fact that I learned about a few quality bands because some guitarist wore their shirt onstage. Besides, I see golfers and such promoting startup dot-coms; why not take the name of a cool site to the public? Hey, Dave ... how many users can the servers handle simultaneously? Hi guys, Yes, AUFORA was the origin of exosci. That's why there's still some UFO representation on the forums, though that's certainly not the emphasis these days (though I am considering resurrecting the AUFORA.org domain as just a UFO picture gallery since that sort of thing was rather popular). At some point I realized that I was more interested in science than UFOs, so I started exosci (originally it was to be exobio.com, focusing on exobiology). exosci.com has always been a one-man show. I do the programming, the content, and the graphics. Unfortunately I occasionally run out of time completely as exosci competes for my time with my university studies. I apologize for that! I've actually found a company that does t-shirt printing (cafepress.com), and I was thinking of getting some exosci t-shirts and mousepads made up with the <A HREF="http://www.exosci.com/geeklog/exosci.jpg">exosci button</A> logo on them. I was planning to give them out free to some of the prolific contributors to the forum. So let me know before you go on tour so I can send you a free shirt or two! The servers are pretty robust. t-shirts huh.... sounds kool. i am stillw riting source code for a page. it wontn be totally on ufo's and such, but it will have some. it is mostly about computers, and other kool stuphl i will elt you all know when it is up. though i have been thinking of resurecting my old science page, it wasnt very good, but now that i know more html, it will prob be easy.... and more about the mouse pads.. ir eally need a new one,t aht was a good idea. you whould also think of exosci bed sheets and stickers. mabe a coffe mug??? dance mix.. the worx. or pajama's! nay ways, when i get more time and am not always working on homework, i will post my new e-mail, unless dave wants to do it himself... its lXdexterXl@netscape.net (with L's) i also got my braces off!!! oh well, i will be getting my permit in may (when i turn 15) so all of you can be expecting a higher level of vehicular manslaughter in california... ------------------ when christianity ruled the world, it was called the dark ages!
