Back on the 6th of October 1999, Porfiry decided that his ExoScience forum should extend a little further than just his general sit to have a "slightly broader sci/tech focus".

With this occurrence 'World Affairs' was born, as stated though it was meant as Science and Technology related events around the globe, little did Porfiry what he would unleash upon the community of sciforums.
From that date up until mid 2001 the subforum was relatively calm and tranquil.
Then news articles started to emerge about Israeli conflict and then eventually 9/11 (9th of November 2001) occurred, Sciforums World Affairs would never be the same, from that point on people from both sides of a dispute fence emerged to abuse one another at every turn, where anger an outrage at what had occurred because pure Racism and it was no longer a case of 'What the facts were' but what colour of skin and region of the world people despised.
You could suggest that sciforums suffered at the hands of terrorism, in the sense that it's World Affairs forum (The forum for Science and Technology News) was HIJACKED (Not just by terrorist sympathisers).
Looking through the annals of sciforums past, you can see how the subforum didn't blossom but became the harbinger of diseased misconceptions, lies and activistic espionage.
So for all those that complain about any future moderation in regards to Racist threads or Hate driven commentary, just remember that this subforums inception was never meant for those types of posts ever and the sciforums moderation team has every right to purge such threads as they appear.
