Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton unveiled her intentions to begin a widely anticipated campaign for the White House on Saturday.

Don't forget, she says that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary (who climbed Everest four years AFTER she was born), so she will come at this with the dogged determination of Sir Edmund, ostensibly.

She said her mom said she was named after Sir Edmund. I wouldn't hold that against a potential employee of Burger King, much less a candidate for the office of President.

Another reason I hate Clinton: She can't even keep her implied promise to my state.

But yes, she basically is going to give the presidency to a Republican.

1. She isn't quitting her Senate seat.
2. She is popular and has star power and money, so she's a serious contender, that's why you all are terrified.

I wonder how mainstream Americans are going to view a woman whose husband got blowjobs in their own home, yet she took him back and claims to be happily married?

Hillary: "Hi, honey, how was your day?"
Bill: "Oh, it was okay, honey, but ...you know, not great."
Hillary: "Oh, none of the young interns sucked you off today?"
Bill: "Oh, crap, honey, don't be nagging me about that, okay?!"
Hillary: "Why, honey, I wasn't nagging you ...thought if you didn't get a good blowjob, I'd call one of the local escort services. I love you, honey, and don't want you to be sad and horny."
Bill: "Oh, well, ...okay! There's a new girl down at the ........."

.....LOL!!

She should have to quit her senate seat, considering she will be not doing anything for the next two years as a senator.

I support an amendment to the constitution that mandates all political candidates must finish their term before running for another office.

But as to her popularity: She is being crushed in the polls by the Republican "probably will be" candidates, as well as Barak Obama. She is not liked by either women or men, and hated by anyone who is not an arch-liberal.

She would not be a good person to run.

Which means she won't be doing any less than she did for the last six - unless you count using the office as a platform to criticize the Republigoons - not that they don't deserve it.

I wonder how mainstream Americans are going to view a woman whose husband got blowjobs in their own home, yet she took him back and claims to be happily married?

What I wonder is why you think that is relevant to her capacity to govern the nation?

For that matter, why do you think Bill Clinton's personal sex life was relevant to his ability to govern the nation?

Mr. G
01-21-07, 01:17 AM
One's "personal sex life" takes place outside the workplace. On his employers' nickel/time clock, and within his employers' place of work, one has no strictly "personal" life.

His inability to properly govern himself speaks directly to his ability to be expected to properly govern both those who did and did not elect him to the office.

Sex for the Public Good has never been a part of the position's Oath of Service(s).

That's funny, James .....ain't you the very one who makes a big deal about "generally accepted" practices? Check out your righteous "generally accepted" by the public in the cursing thread. What's the difference?

Just curious ....how did you feel about Senator Foley's antics? And how did they affect his ability to govern??? Hmmm?

Baron, do you honestly not see the difference between consenting adults and pedophilia?

Why do you persist in defending people like Mark Foley? What if it was your brother or son who was seduced by a predator like that?

Just curious...if he managed to get back into politics would you vote for him?

Also Sam, do you think it's plausible that Hillary didn't know what was going on?

She put her political ambitions above her health and pride in putting up with Bill's shit for all those years, at least you can say she really wants to be President, but she looks the fool in doing so, just a crazed power-hungry socialist, she would play much better in France.

Why do the Clintons drive conservatives absolutely ape? Many of them hate Bill and Hillary more than Osama and Saddam. I've heard a few conservatives even say they thought Hitler was better than Bill Clinton, since 'at least Hitler rebuilt Germany's economy'. Why is the political dialogue this venomous?

As for liberals, how many will ignore all of the Democratic candidates' CVs and simply pick Obama or Hillary solely based on the race or gender novelty? Does having an extra dose of melatonin or estrogen make someone more qualified than usual to govern a country?

I wonder if America will end up with a perpetual Bush Clinton Bush Clinton Bush Clinton succession of presidencies.

Sure, but the kids that Foley emailed were over 18! What's the matter, Sam, you don't know the difference between an adult, and an adult??

Why do you persist in defending people like Mark Foley?

Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Justice Department and FBI worked very hard to find any laws that he violated ....and couldn't!!

And yet, Sam, you and others have condemned him for his actions. Why?

I think both Bill Clinton and Mark Foley are guilty of being slimeballs. But if there were a law that slimeballs couldn't hold office, and it were enforced...the capitals of the world would empty pretty fast. Democracies seem to exalt slimeballs. What does that say about the electorate? :D

That's funny, James .....ain't you the very one who makes a big deal about "generally accepted" practices? Check out your righteous "generally accepted" by the public in the cursing thread. What's the difference?

1. I never claimed Bill Clinton's escapades were "generally accepted" by the public.
2. Obscenity by politicians and philandering politicians are not generally accepted by the public, so it seems these are comparable in that regard. I don't know what distinction you are trying to draw.

Just curious ....how did you feel about Senator Foley's antics? And how did they affect his ability to govern??? Hmmm?

I don't know that they affected his ability to govern. (I admit, I'm not up with all the details on that case.)

An observation though: Americans are very uptight about the sex lives of their politicians. The general reaction in Australia to Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky was "What is all the fuss about? So, the man had an extra-marital affair. Does that mean he should be impeached as President?"

Certainly, there was an issue of abuse of power over a subordinate and the issue of private integrity in terms of loyalty to his wife. But the actual, bare fact of sex? Why were Americans so outraged about that? And how did some of them think it could possibly affect Clinton's decisions on issues such as national security, foreign policy, taxes or any of the other functions of government?

Perhaps Clinton's extra-marital exploits probably helped him to function better as President. He would have been less uptight, for a start...

Prince_James
01-21-07, 08:32 PM
James R.:

The problem was not that he had an affair. Adultery is not illegal in the United States (or at least not an impeachable offense). It is that he lied about it under oath. Perjury is a very serious offense which normal people go to prison for.

If you have an affair, you can lie about it all you want to everyone -but- a court.

James R
01-21-07, 09:01 PM
Why was he asked about it under oath in the first place?

Yes, they affected his ability to govern considering he was chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. That'd be like the War on Drugs czar being a crack addict. Hey, at least they'll know who and what to go after since they have the mindset of who they're targeting.. excuse excuse..
