I graduated this Tuesday. I'm an adult now.

What should I look for / watch out for, now that I'm sort of more grown up, and more independent?

Ha, congrats dude. I got one more year to go. The last day for the Seniors at my school was today.

I guess all I could say, not being done with school and all, is do something with your life that will fulfill you. That's what I wrote in my Senior friends' yearbooks. Also, never be normal, you'll gain more friends that way. :D

Let me share my experiences as if I were offering advice to myself when I graduated one year ago, and take from that whatever you like..

First off, about friends-- do not worry! Your good friends aren't going anywhere. casual aquaintences will drift away like dust in the desert.

You think you've got human psychology figured out. Wrong. Be honest and sincere and try to see the good in everyone. Thats all the psychology you need.

Some of your friends are going to become alcoholics. Alcohol is overglorified. Remember that when people drink alone, it is to seek release from tension. When then drink socially, it is to conform.

Read the biographies of people you admire.

Realize that 90% of people lead very boring lives. This is because their minds have shut down. The only difference between a boring person and an alcoholic is smell. The way to avoid this is to keep your mind sharp at all times. Don't daydream.

Focus on the things you want and not on the things you don't want happening. Positive thought isn't taught in school, but its the most important lesson I can think of. "There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so."-shakespeare

Learn to understand the 'vasana' of yourself and people around you. Its one of the most simple and useful principles I've discovered since high school.

Don’t worry about the past, because the past is gone.

Don’t get upset about the future, because the future is not here yet.

There is only one moment for to be alive. Live completely in the present moment.

Gonorrhea. Herpes. Chlamydia. Hookers with razor blades. Taxes. And... coming soon... the draft!!

Oh. And I hear that as you age your testicles droop lower and lower. A common complaint of senior citizens is the water in the toilet is cold.

I am employed and currently conforming very hard. Very heavily conforming am I.

Guess what I got for Valentines Day, Nexus? An outbreak of herpes. But it was of the mundane oral kind.

What's a vasana?

Way to go Athelwulf. You just gotta hold out one more year. G'luck with that. I had to work so hard to work senior year.

That you still are learning and that you're only a young adult so be careful or you might not make it to adulthood. Remember that you need to keep learning throughout life never get complacent about life or it will bite you on your ass!

My advice to you Roman is to be careful with credit cards. Pretty soon you will start to get all kinds of offers in the mail. The next thing you know it is 3 years later and you've racked up $40,000 in debt. To avoid that from happening, just get one and use it responsibly!

Cheers :m:

The more money that you earn the more money you burn! They say that those who earn 50,000.00 US a year spend over 150,000.00 per year so your debts add up fast at that spending rate.

Here in the land of beer and blond hair every man get's drafted at the age of 18, either to the army or civil service.
Well, they decide where you will be placed after graduation.

Basically this means that you get a year of pondering.

And after you have been stripped of your hair and your mindset has been deprived by the good ole "fuck the russians" attitude, then you have the means to atleast function without your momma.
You don't need to ask for these advices.

Anyhoo, I'm such an artsy faggot that I shall concede to the civil service.

Constitutionalise yourselves.

Perfect,

Ha!
You just confessed that you are a teenager. And not even a 19 year old as was your previous claim. You're a teeny bopper!
Ha!
I'm gonna tell (In)Sanity...

So. How old are you then? 15? 14? You are a teenager, aren't you?

What the fuck are you talking about?

Key words:
they decide where you will be placed after graduation

Before you turn 28 you must have gone trough 6 - 11 months of army or 13 months of civil cervice.

Education is allways first.
