This high resolution photo of N.Y. is the best I've seen so far of the 17 acres where thos towers collapsed.

Someone sent the photo to me.
I flew over N.Y. when I was a kid. At that time you needed no radio equipment of any type----you most certainly do now----and the only requirement was that you stayed 1,000 feet above any person. Since there were people in the top story of the Empire State building----the tallest building then----and it was 1,500 feet high then that meant an altitude of at least 2,500 feet;
I flew at 3,000 feet just to be on the safe side but I always like to have a place under me in case I have to land. The planes I flew weren't that good. All those buildings below looked like big spikes sticking up and if I had engine trouble then I imagined getting impaled on one of them and I was glad when I left N.Y. and had a lot of flat land under me again.

Exelent point. I never concidered that at all. In a typical plane how many feet do you drop per 100 feet horizontal movement? I was just wondering with you saying about the minimum flight zone and how far away you can get.

I dont know if this will work but this is a NASA image taken from a satellite over NY. I got it from NASA itself about 3 weeks ago. The original image which started this sectoin was amazing, must have been from a chopper/plane.
