According to wikipedia: "The song, "Hey There Delilah" was inspired by Delilah DiCrescenzo, a Columbia University graduate, and steeplechase runner training for the 2008 Olympic trials." There was never a relationship between Tom Higgenson and DiCrescenzo, but Tom was inspired to write a song about her soon after they were introduced by a mutual friend." so there you have it... people, just google and read the results before asking this type of questions...
I like the song. It's very sweet. Sure, it's a bit sappy. But so what? "A thousand miles seems pretty far, but they've got planes and trains and cars. I'd walk to you if I had no other way." It's funny you should mention a hammer. He has another song that goes something like, "I'd spend all my day just a hammerin' away..." Now that song is lame. I mean the sentiment is ok, but the presentation is god awful.
Why did it take over 2 years for ppl to start liking it? Its so emo it makes me want to start cutting myself.:jason:
