Ever notice how our numerals kinda suck. How many sixes get mistaken for nines? Is it 8088 or 8808? Anyway I designed a nice set of sixteen symbols that's really easy to use. All can be drawn in a single stroke (no dotting i's and crossing t's), and without symmetry problems. I just need to submit it to the copyright office before I show it. Anybody else use their own symbols?

Whenever I have to count stuff, I use a shorthand method for refering to how many. Because it is a shorthand method it doesn't take up as much space on a pad of paper as would the old 4 vertical lines and then the cross stroke for indicating 5. I guess I have used this method ever since I was a teenager so I have used it for a long time.

Really, what is it? Is it based on decimal or hexadecimal? You're referring to tally marks I think, which are nice, but I use groups of four, since I'm allergic to decimal.

It is decimal based. One dot for the first 4 in the form of a box. That represents 4. Four lines to connect the dots represents 8 and forms a box. Two diagonal lines within represent 10. The whole thing can fit within the space that two capital T's would take on a piece of paper. Simple, easy, and compact. No need to try and think back to what was that in decimal?

Which is why you have had so much "resistance" to the idea of others taking up the Hexadecimal system. The rest of the world runs on decimal. Whether you want to use it or not, you have to. The money is based on the, measurements are, and counting is for the world. So either you conform or you are forced to constantly reconvert back and forth. No one else wants the extra hassel that would come with living within a hexidecimal system and the extra work that would entail.

Damn, that's depressing. Gotta get me a pint of beer, with, uh, sixteen ounces. Can't write much, gotta do my web pages, colored in...hmm, no decimal option! What time is it? And so on...

Decimal is fine for certain things, sure makes sense in bowling. Besides, any character set for hexadecimal will do just fine for decimal.

Anyway, interesting shorthand. Maybe I can come up with a hexadecimal version. My version was just new numerals like 0-9.

    anyone wanna see it?

How much can I charge for it? I'm thinking of offering the first four and charging for the rest.
