i was thinking how love is a lot like an addiction to drugs * both "habbits" cost you lots of $$ to maintain (i spent $60 on a date last nite .... and it's not even considered a lot) * without either, life can be boring... or fulfilling but only if you occupy yourself with some stupid hobbies * the more time you spend with it, the deeper you get attached (addicted) * after a long addiction (relationship) if you quit cold turkey (break up) you could lose your mind and feel so bad lots of other parallels i can think of. why is it then, should we "quit, or never start drugs" but "get a girlfriend"? any thoughts?
In that case you can get addicted to anything you like. I mean, I am addicted to DDR(Dance Dance Revolution). I play it all the time, I spend crazy amounts of money on it, and you cant keep me away from it. So, I guesss love and everything else is as addicting ass cocane. Yet, you dont through withdrawl by playing DDR, but in a way you can from love. Hell, Its all the same..... -Guyute
Issue of $$ Love doesn't have to cost a cent. If you go out a lot then yes it will cost you, but you can love someone at home as well as out. So whether it costs you anything is up to you. Drugs on the other hand do cost you whether you're out or at home... Life being boring without it If your life is boring without either love or drugs, then you have a problem. Well I don't know about heroin because I'm not sure I've ever taken it. I think I may have had it once, but I'm not sure. Heroin is a CHEMICAL that induces humans to MOMENTARY feelings of pleasure or 'highs". This CHEMICAL can cost over 500.00 a day if you become addicted to it and it can KILL YOU. Relationships can cost you something that is for sure but they won't KILL you , most of the time at least, and won't cost you 500.00 a day to maintain them. You can live without a relationship but is is very hard to stop drugs of any kind that give you pleasure. With a realtionship you get sex, stimulation, shared feelings fun and sometimes pain, which is all part of being human. Relationships will come and go but at least you can have some fun with them whereas a CHEMICAL will only make you feel "high" for a brief period of time then wear off until you get another "fix" which will cost you more. Saying this it does look as if heroin and relationships are closely related BUT they really aren't because you will never know when the heroin you buy could be made with other additives that could kill you or cause you a big medical problem. Do you really want to screw up your body with CHEMICALS that harm you when your feeling pleasure? Their tricky things that make you feel good while actualy getting you addicted and killing you at the same time. It isn't easy to kick heroin you go through WITHDRAWLS that you'd rather die than going through.
I think it's a good analogy. Love may indeed be a chemical phenomenon like addiction. Love can be expensive, if not the cost of dates, then the cost of raising children or if you get married and it doesn't work out, you may lose half of everything you own. It can be very difficult to quit. Love leads to murder sometimes. Relationships can kill you, they are the cause of many suicides. Love can wear off, causing one to seek an endless succesion of lovers. You may fall in love with someone that is very bad for you. All in all, I would say heroin is less dangerous.
Then you're doing it all wrong. Find a girl who doesn't care about money or gifts and test her preferences. You do not need either to have satisfying life...if you do then there is something wrong with you. If you are weak. again, if you are weak and let it get to you. Because your girlfriend isn't imported from Colombia (though possible) or made in some sleeze's basement in Jersey. You girlfriend won't wear away your mind...literally or your insides...literally. Hanging out with your girlfriend won't get you arrested and kissing your girlfriend won't get you arrested (unless she is seriously underage).
some more similarities: * you never know what the H has been cut with.. and you never know the alterior motives of the girl * if you quit you have to get away from that environment otherwise you might fall back into it or your life will be awkward and complicated....same as with the girl. you gotta start hanging out with other people to avoid headaches and complications * both totally kill your 'logic mechanism'. "sure i dont have any money but i wanna get high" or.... "sure she cheats on me, but i love her" * just cause you're not high at the moment doesn't mean you're not an addict. and, just cause you're not with that girl at the moment doesn't mean you don't love her * heroin changes you.. you never thought you'd lie to your friends, family... and you never thought you'd have to ASK PERMISSION from your girlfriend to go out with friends or anything else. and you never knew that apparently you like to watch balet! again, if you are weak and let it get to you. i might be mistaken but i think one of the fundamental beliefs in Budhism is that man is destined to be miserable because he surrounds himself with material possessions. therefore man has to get rid of those surroundings and cravings.... i.e. becoming a freakin priest and live in the mountains away from civilization...meditate, pray and fast all day. you do that, and you'll be a "strong" man It isn't easy to kick heroin you go through WITHDRAWLS that you'd rather die than going through i was going through withdrawals... and i wanted to die rather than go through them...... when my girlfriend (at the time) fucked me up a few years ago. The problem with heroin is infidelity. If I ever dated it, I'm sure lots of other guys would get in on the action while my back was turned.
if you leave heroin alone for a second with your friend, they will rape and devour it. when you come back there will be nothing left for you. oh, the heartbreak
Heroin, definitely Heroin beats love any day. First off, it's stronger. Secondly, it costs less. Thirdly, it kills you more quickly and gets the misery over with. Of course, I don't have necessarily the proper perspective. I won't shoot heroin, and I've been dumb enough to fall in love before.
