It would appear that I have a Spigelian Hernia. No, I'm not 58 years old (my doctor was amused... I was not)... I'm a spritely 31.

I have one relative who's had a hernia at it was the unthinkable scrotal variety.

Anybody else been here. What should I expect?

You should discuss it with your surgeon. He/She might be able to give you a fairly good indication of the recovery process and time, any pain issues you might have and pain relief you might need (the types of medication they will mention might be a good indication of any type of pain you might have afterwards).

Oh, I have. And yes, he's given me some great insight. Just wondering if anybody else has been through it and what they experienced.

I've heard the horror stories and the stories of hernia surgeries from people that were so freaked out and scared for nothing. One coworker, an older guy, INSISTED I "poosh" on his hernia bump on his stomach. "Poosh It! Poosh It!":bugeye: I relented and pooshed it. It was really gross.
The thought of String laid out on a surgeon's table makes me tingle for some perverted reason!:shrug:

I gave myself a hernia rebuilding a rock retaining wall. I initially thought I might have appendicitis as I had lower abdominal pain and a fever. So I went to the ER and they diagnosed it as a hernia. I was given pain meds and the surgeon came in to "reduce" the hernia. Reduce means try to push it back in. Damn did that hurt. I stayed overnight and the next morning the hernia was gone.

The surgeon said she was glad she hadn't operated and told me to come back if the hernia returned. It's been a couple of years, and so far so good.

The age reference was not because of the "hernia" but because of the TYPE of hernia, which is far more common amonst blue hairs.

Can you say, Diladin? Oh, Jesus. I love that shit. Lemme tell you, many many moons ago, I was a drug abuser to the Nth degree... but Diladin. Well... all I can say is, I love that shit. And, don't think I didn't milk every drop outta' them that I could get.
