View Full Version : Helpless?
Why would any humans hurt other humans who try to help them?
This is sad:
3 hurricane evacuees accused of killing woman who helped them
By ANNE MARIE KILDAY and MÓNICA GUZMÁN

Betty Blair, 77, who was found strangled Friday in her home, was the widow of former Pasadena school board president Robert Blair, who died last spring.
Three hurricane evacuees were charged with capital murder Saturday in the strangulation of Betty Blair, a 77-year-old church leader, mother of three daughters and the widow of former Pasadena school board President Robert "Bob" Blair.

Baron Max 10-31-05, 12:47 PM I've lived long enough to never be really surprised or shocked at what humans are capable of doing ...both to humans as well as to animals AND the planet itself.
And, of course, there are those who will make excuses for the crimes and sally forth with psycho-babble crap about the "causes" of such horrendous acts of violence. Amazing, ain't it? It's even more amazing to me that many people will try to justify keeping individuals like that in our societies ...sorta' like wanting to keep the cancer cells in ones body!!

spidergoat 10-31-05, 01:26 PM That's just sensationalism. What about all the people who were helped and didn't kill their helpers (99.99)%? You don't hear about them do you?
Baron Max 10-31-05, 06:46 PM Well, there was a Katrina evacuee in Ft Worth who violently raped a young (underage) girl just recently. And although I haven't kept up with it, there have been several instances of evacuees doing criminal activities (and caught!). I don't know how many have NOT been caught.
But all-in-all, I agree with you, Spider, it's just sensationalist news. Any other such attack, by someone else, would have been glossed over or, more likely, not even in the news!!
Perspective is what we all need more of ...lots more! And the news does NOT give us any such perspective.

Yeah, me too! See why I'm beginning to think very seriously that ignorance is bliss?
In the early days, did anyone really get all worked up over some invasion of another country a gazillion miles away? Hell, in the early days, if Africa had sunk beneath the waves of the ocean, would anyone in Europe have even known or cared?

Because those people were boring, few, and white.
Remember that all the networks first went out looking for sob stories- as with Ivan- but ended up all sensational because New Orleans does have the nation’s highest crime rate.
You are asking a philosphical question and it should be posted elsewhere.
Philosopically, throughout the history of man there has been an everlasting argument that has extended up to today: "Is man ultimately good or bad?"
I hope the answer is "good," but you will not find an answer on this thread no matter how long it goes. If you post it on the philosophy forum you will get a lot more straightforword, though more difficult to comprehend, replies. Do it!
This is another example of JB's racist propaganda. I expected the three pics of the murderers to be anything but white, so I click the link and whoopee... no surprise JB puts this up.
