Any tree experts here ?
I found this leaf and decided to determine the species, but I'm kinda stuck.
I narrowed it down to genus (Malus, apple genus) and a probable species (Malus bracteata).
Any help would be much appreciated :)

This is Malus bracteata:

...hmmm...does it look like that leaf or not...hmmmm
I would say pretty close.
And you dont have a picture of the fruit?
And you dont have a picture of the fruit?
There are several different images on the net, some of them being more of a match. I suspect these trees are cultivated so there is some variability to be expected. This doesn't make things easier though :(
I have seen the fruit but it's all the way up in the tree.
They are Rowan type and color berries and also configured in that way, only about 2x bigger.
The trunk is similar to Rowan as well as is the configuration of the leafs.
This is why I thought it was a Sorbus species at first but I can't find any matches.
Now that I think about it the configuration of the leaves in that pictured you posted isn't the same as the configuration of the leafs of the trees I saw.
Maybe it is a Sorbus species after all.. :o
The leafs are about 2,5 inch long and the trees themselves were about 15 feet tall but I could be a copuple of feet off.
I better take some pictures of the trees and berries (if I can get my hands on them) as well. Maybe tomorrow.

This could be it, Sorbus intermedia :D The trunk is a bit off though..
yeah the leaves sure do resemble the picture you posted of.
Thanks for trying to help Draqon :)
I'm pretty sure now that it's Sorbus sp., will have to look at some other species then S. intermedia to be sure though.
