in case you haven't seen this movie, click here (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=info&id=1808457310&intl=us)

What did you think of this movie? Do you think that Jim Carrey worked well in a serious (but still funny at times) role? I really liked this movie. It will be added to my collection. I may even buy the DVD. How long did it take for oyu to figure out exactly what was going on? It really makes one think about ethical questions. Would you like memories of another erased?

No, but have you seen "What Dreams May Come" that looks into what could happen also with Robin Williams?

I havent seen it, but I read the thing you posted. (and the link etc.)

Sounds a good idea that actually seems to deal with something other than the norm. However, I wouldnt be surprised if within minutes this thread will be filled with people moaning about how films cant be intellectual, and the like, which will no doubt degrade into biting at each other.

I would like to see Carrey in a serious role, I dont really know whether he's got it, but he's impressed (humored) me multiple times in.. well... all of his movies.

On first glance most people will undoubtably say there are lots of people who they would like to erase, but (as this film probably deals with in some way) by changing your memories you change who you are almost fundamentally in the case of this film I assume, so I would not delete my memories of anyone, since by knowing them they may have contributed to me being able to recognize this fact. Life is a collective process (sadly in my case) and without reference to others and to society in general it would be difficult to get anywhere.
i.e. 'standing on the shoulders of giants'. (in this case a mini version of this would apply).

I have not seen that movie.

I have seen Robin Williams in a serious role in "One Hour Photo". He did a good job. I think they could have developed his character more and gave him some better lines, but he did well.

Some people, including my father, said that What Dreams May Come, with Robin Williams, adopted many of the features of Dante's Inferno

Subsequently, I read the Inferno, a portion of The Divine Comedy, and I must say that those people, including my father, were full of crap.

Jim Carrey was really and surprisingly good, as the only other worthwhile dramatic role he's had was in The Truman Show, and even then he was still the star. Here, he completely subverted his celebrity persona to play this quiet, shy guy.

Kate Winslet has now completely redeemed herself ror Titanic, and Kirsten Dunst and the doctor's other employees ranged from watchable to not bad at all.

I thought the acting was great. It seemed like a difficult script to act out. THe doctor's employees are hilarious.
