While browsing through the religion forums i came upon a post by a user name Gifted...i have come to known that he/she is in the millitary but that doesn't matter. Under his/her username it said "lifetaker/ heartbreaker" and after looking at lifetaker it got me thinking what is it like to kill a man...the final moments before you end his/her life and the fleeting moments after. I know some members here are in the army, navy, armed forces etc and i want to ask you guys/ gals that Have you ever killed a man/woman?...in defense or whatever?. If yes then what does it feel like? Did it make you upset after you did the deed or were you indifferent to the victims pain?.......I would like to hope people don't put stupid replys to this, however all opinions are welcomed. For those who haven't what do you think it would feel like and could you do it if it came down to it?

Have you ever killed a man/woman?... Yes, please come and arrest me now. j/k

I used to think the solution to the world's problem was mass genocide. I would have gladly pressed the red button that would send up continent after continent into eruptions of nuclear bombs and mass destruction.
I used to think that if you put a machine gun in my hand I'd pull the trigger over and over without a thought, only pausing to reload. I'd mow down street after street of people, all the while thinking I was liberating them. I thought I loved the world so much I just wanted to put it out of its misery.

If it did happen, it'd be the best feeling in the world. I'd be sacrificing my mind for humankind, feeling the euphoria while I'd be fricken insane by the time the rivers stop flowing red.

I wanted to do it, very badly. I had big dreams about it. But not anymore, don't worry. :)

I think any human is capable of killing sarge. I almost did once and I felt I was justified at the time but when I woke up in jail the realisation hit me. Even more so when I went to prison because then I really understood that for the majority killing could never be an option because of the amputation of freedom. I truly believe that only fear of the consequences prevents many killings.

To the best of my knowledge I've not killed anyone, but one time while hunting, someone shot at me. I jumped behind a tree and shouted that I wasn't a deer. They shot at me again. Once more I shouted that I was not a deer and was not defensless so they had better knock off the bullshit. They shot at me again, so I popped of three quick rounds in their direction. They stopped shooting and I got the hell out of there. If they were hit, killed, wounded, whatever, didn't matter to me then and still doesn't to this day. Assholes like that have no reason to be around. I have not pointed a weapon at anyone, either in anger or just foolin' around since I stopped playing cowboys and indians.

and my personal opinion is that everybody should refrain from (not only) killing another man,....but ANY living entity.

Just my humble opinion, don't get upset and don't kill me for it! :):D

I did KILL some animals that is,.....:( it's sad but true,....

But I guess a man is just the same, I mean: I think it's with the same ease that you can KILL a man. As easy as an animal.

Peace is preferable.

Yes but only one. He was a fed and most of them need wiping out, in my opinion. They seem to want all the answers without preparing to work things out for themselves and they are not prepared to tell their story and are thus do not exist as a full being; a part of them is missing from the world.

Incidently the poll asks, "would you be prepared to kill a man", and the thread asks "have you ever killed a man"!

No one needs to die. Truly evil people at first glance aren't needed, but take a look. The human mind cannot handle peace and harmony for very long. Ever tried sitting in a room where everyone is telling you they love you, how great you are, and there's good music playing? Don't try it, kay? Truly good people need to be here to keep the balance between good and evil (inter breeding and pick-up personality). And the balanced, (good/evil) should rule the world.

Think about it. now listen though, even though I made a statement earlier about no one needing to die, if it were anyone though it would have to be the truly evil. True, they give a balance, but just being straight evil, and not doing ANY good to our world is unneccessary. Truly good people need to be here, it is IMPERITIVE that they exist, for the world could not keep it's balance. We need those missionaries, and those tree huggers. Even if it is false hope, we need something to keep us alive, something to believe in so we can continue with are pathetic lives. Don't dissagree, when it comes down to it, exactly how "great" is our existence?
And finally, "the balanced." This way, they are able to take risks(not that good or evil people don't take risks), they are able to make decisions that satisfy the majority of the public, and themselves, and they are semi-perfect. Nobody's perfect. :)
In conclusion we need everyone, just not the evil people as much, BUT we do need them sort of because that's how we balance eachother. It would work best if we had good/evil people exist only. But THEN AGAIN, we need supreme, major, and minor. In this order: Evil/Good, Evil, and Good.

I will never kill anyone except an evil person, personally.

I've never killed anyone, but I've come very close to it. The guy was pretty beaten up and was bleeding all over the place after we (my brother and I) were done with him. Trying to knife me in public is really not a great idea. And coming from one of the most violent countries in the world where you're taught it is either you or them, I pretty much react quite violently to threats. And I still do.

And yes, I'd probably kill someone if I see someone raping someone. Or something like that.

I have never killed an animal except the trash... flies and stuff. I don't hunt. And I don't eat meat. But I couldn't give a damn if other people kill animals, as long as it is reasonably civilized.

No one needs to die.No no no no. I have a list compiled of people I'd like to kill. I'll start with Idi Amin.

To answer your question - I have never killed anyone.

Normally I wouldn't want to anyways. But the world is 'Lord of the flies' one, and humans are seperated into two groups. Those who are willing to kill (animals and eachother); and those who aren't. Guess who surives?

If someone was trying to kill me, I'd tangle with them in a second and return the good feelings. I would not hesitate or see any tragedy in the fact that there are people who'd have my head on a platter if they could. On the same note, that's the only reason I'd want to kill somebody. Because even if they desperately annoyed me, or did something to sabotage my plans, killing them would be to stoop below they're intelligence level, and that's a much bigger sin in my eyes. Instead, I would impair them before any harm could be done, or get retribution through other means.

I aint never killed somone but I beat the hell out of someone.
Im thinking if I killed a man that I wanted to kill... I'd probably wouldnt feel anything at all, shit I wanted to kill him so why would I feel anything?
Now if I killed someone on accident like hitting them with a car after they pop out of no where.... I'd probably feel more panic than anything else. Be like OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH MY LORD OH SHIT F***!!!! GOTTA HIDE THIS NAH SHIT I"M RIDING OFF F IT!
Then later on during the day I'd probably be all paranoid , pacing the room thinking DAMN! what if I get caught DAMN!!! PLZ FORGIVE ME! I DIDNT MEAN TO LORD PLZ OH MY GOD!
It will all pass but the guilt will probably remain for the rest of my days.
heh! LOL! damn.

If someone came after and wanted to kill you, lets say hes a real bad person. I hear people sometimes saying nah I wouldnt kill him even if he is bad, I dont want to stoop down to their level. Stoop to their level... LOL! if you want to stoop to there level you gotta have their mentality first, of just wanting to kill someone for a hell of it, just be a bad person. I'd hardly call defending your own life from some wacked out psycho stooping to their level. Its not like you were like eager to confront , you were just defending yourself. The man judged himself with his own actions. Dont mean to sound righteous but dont you think if you killed him instead of him killing you , would of been better for everyone else cuz what if he kept on killing, after he killed you cuz you didnt want to "stoop" to his level.

Maybe you should re-read my post Farrel.

I said that(slowly now)
-If someone was out to kill me, I'd kill 'em first.
(you didn't seem to get this one.)

-If I came across someone who was just an asshole, there would be no point to killing him. Even for getting under my skin. You stay above them by simply not submitting to their goals which are pretty much to get you pissed off enough. Enough to want them dead. That's what I mean by not stooping to their intelligence level. If someone commits a crime, you put 'em in jail and try to change em (which doesn't always work. And of course, they can't commit a crime if they're in jail and have paid their dues back.
(would you have him dead?)

I'm not trying to sound righteous, I'm trying to be righteous. And I admit that saying something alone is a bit indulgent, but not at all wrong. There are definately some perfectly good reasons to kill.

Yep, yep, yep. I killed a man once (it may have been more but you just couldn't tell if it was you who got him or the man standing next to you there was so much action), it was back in "nam", that mo' fucker poped out of some trees, so i shot 'im!

Bang, bang, bang.

He took two in the chest, and one in the leg, dat 'son bitch!

Eventually i got shot in the foot, so i had to go home, was one hell of a war, i was damn lucky i only got shot in the foot

I couldn't disagree more.
I don't believe in fundamental good or fundamental evil at all.
Nevermind fundamentally good or evil people.

Even if there were such thing as fundamentally good or evil people (by whose judgement, by the way) why would it be imperative that the good ones live and not the evil ones of, as you said, balance is the key?

As for the question(s) in the thread...
I have not killed anyone.
I came close once (for the wrong reasons).

I would not, however, hesitate for a moment, nor have any regret, killing a person if I felt it was justified.
I have been faced with the situation a number of times, and was completely ready and willing.
Coincidence stopped it from happening.

Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for someone to kill, or looking forward to the opportunity, but I do think that there are situations that would justify it, and I don't believe in the unqualified sanctity of life.

Some people deserve to live.
Some deserve to die.
(in my opinion)

To answer the question main question: no, I've never killed anybody.

To answer the poll's question - yes, I positively would kill someone who I felt justified lethal action.

In the vast majority of circumstances, I'd prefer to simply incapacitate 'the person' - but if that person is threatening me with lethal force, I'll reciprocate the favor quite readily.

I'm a martial arts buff, so I've considered this quite a bit - I think it comes down to a basic dynamic. It doesn't have anything to do with whether you feel the person is the pure incarnation of evil or not. It simply depends on the threat that person poses - whether it be to yourself or others.

Sometimes there arnt many choices.
If my choices are 1) You kill me 2) I kill you....well, hope you made out your will.

I answered no.

No, I would not kill anyone (but if he/she was about to kill me of course or during a war in which I believe). However, I thought about one thing : if someone would attack my family... What would I do? I think that the guy(s) would understand what "torture" and "hell" mean.
I'm a really nice guy and I never fight but I know that I've got a dark side and this "hidden me" would be terrible if it would have to be used (Sade and Machiavel would love me!).

i have never killed a person, but i feel no moral feelings against it. i could kill a person quite calmly, i imagine, and sometimes it seems like it would be quite fun to do it (were it not for the law).

I have never killed someone as well, but I really wish I could slice those whom I hate the most..... Or when all is lost, I'll be an assasin...... I've had that thoughts of me wielding all sorts of blades and spilling everyone's blood.....
