I've been going over in my mind how the country itself isn't really free anymore because so many restrictions have been put into place that prevent us from making mistakes and being human. For example if I pee in a bush and get caught I'm likely to be thrown in jail and labeled a sex offender. I cannot drive my car over the speed limit YET I'm certain everyone does and infact police also do even when not pursing anyone. You cannot sing songs from some fav band in public or you may get sued. You cannot drink alcohol while walking around in public though it's rather a bizarre concept in itself not to been seen drinking! So I'd like to know what you all think of this current LAW we have. But more importantly have you found yourself on the other end of unjust accusations or more importantly absurd ones?

I remember in IL that I got pulled over a few times and they were NOT kind or nice, they were bullies and basically mean. One cop tail gated me forcing me to increase speed out of fear of being hit. He then gave me a ticket! Another pulled me over but in reality these are minor offenses yet were viewed very sternly. And add to that the fact NO ONE is even aware when judgements are issued so it's not like the public would instantly start speeding everywhere without tickets being given. Now that I think about it I realize IL had a very strict attitude to traffic, they would give tickets for almost anything.

How about homeless that have no where to sleep so do so on a bench or in a park? They can be arrested at anytime and thrown into prison for various crimes which in reality are nothing more than a lie perpetrated by the government/state.

Tell me your experiences with the law and whether you feel it's unjust. Don't forget to vote too.

I've been arrested 3 times...once for a DWI, and twice for unpaid inspection sticker tickets.

I find that those who dislike the police many times are people who look for trouble or who make trouble. I've not seen any instances where a police officer bullied anyone who was not asking for it. Many times the police are there trying to help like when a fight starts or when an accident happens. I once saw , on one of those T V reality shows, where a police officer came upon a car crash and the driver who caused the wreck was very drunk and has open bottles of alcohol in his vehicle. Well this guy was manhandled by the officer because he just killed two small children in the car he struck. So like I say many times people ask for problems by what they do to make the police aggravated and annoyed.

I shot someone when I was a minor... was in the interrogation room, never cracked. They eventually dropped the case for lack of evidence... it was expunged when I became an adult.

I was pulled over once by a whole squad of police cars that appeared out of nowhere- long story short they thought I was a drug smuggler and thought I had a car full of drugs. Hauled me to the station and let me go an hour later when the search turned up nothing. No apology from the police.

We have a civilian police force... it's run by us citizens. The cop's job is to enforce the letter of the law and nothing more- he is bound by more laws than you are. As long as you retain your rights, even if you are guilty, you'll do a whole lot better if you comply with the police and do as they say. It's when they have the handcuffs on and they start asking questions that you get yourself in trouble. People forget YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT.

Arrested several times...mainly being in the wrong place at the wrong time. No permanent record, never had to stand before a judge.

I know several people that have been arrested. I know people "doing time" including hard time.

I know a couple innocent people assaulted by the cops, mainly for being a smart ass with the cops.

I know several people that were driven home by the police instead of being arrested for DUI or being in a single car DUI accident.

The only words you should say to a cop in an interrogation room are "I want my lawyer".

Silence is golden, people. Silence is golden

Only in the US I believe. The UK you don't have a Right to remain silent, or a Right to one phone call.

In fact recently the UN ruled against anti-terrorism legislation in the UK because it breached too many civil rights and was actually being misused. Afterall it could be used to hold a person for an indefinite period of time with no actual charges being made.

As for why the Laws of any land seem to get more and more fickle. Well thats simply down to the numbers, with every year there is a population increases and this is ever present as we get better at keeping people alive or healthy longer. This means there are more and more people in each others space trying to live with each other, or around each other. Some of those people are obviously selfish in the sense that they only concern themselves of themselves and this potential jeopardises others in the process, so laws get made to try and keep the damage done by their escapades to a minimum.

Of course this then undermines everyone else since those laws get dropped on them too.

It will always be the case that a Minority will attempt to rule over the Majority, and they will always claim it's for the benefit of the Majority.

I've never been arrested, but I don't like the police. They're too often jerks with superiority complexes, especially the men.

I fear police, they take freedom and offer nothing in exchange. They are unjust!

So taking a murderer off of the streets is not protecting people from that murderer?

Is there no justice in arresting a drunk driver?

The same can be said for anyone else in an authoritarian position. Judges, doctors, lawyers, any boss anywhere.

The only laws I think are unjust are civil laws which the cops can't arrest you for.
I love the cops. They have been very very helpful to me in times of great distress

Not quite arrested, but detained by Security at an airport in Belgium as a suspected (potential - not mistaken identity) hijacker.
Half an hour later and I was out: to comments from all the other passengers of "Is that the terrorist there?"
