Speaking of Memorial Day, FDR pointed out something of importance when he said,

"Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy forget in time that men have died to win them".

Freedom isn't free and the members of our armed forces who risked all and sometimes gave all defending it deserve our respect and admiration for their service to our country. For all the men and women who have fought, bled and died for America, we salutes you.

I however have respect for anyone who has died for his countries freedom...even if they were our or anyone else's enemies because they were also someone's brother, father, husband, lover, friend. May they rest in peace.

I would also like to salute the brave American men and women who have fought, bled and died to protect the freedom and save the lives of non-Americans.

We should all remember that if it were not for American troops we would likely all be speaking German, Japanese, Russian or Chinese right now.

I could have say some things about this sentence but that's not the good thread...
Respect to the dead soldiers. :m:

Galt I'm really not liking your attitude. You come off as one of those 'America is god' kind of people. The arrogant kind. But not in this thread. I've had too many arguements about this. I grow weary of it.

But yes. Respect for all men who died for their country no matter what side they were on. They died for what they hopefully believed in, whether it was right or wrong. That alone makes them special. But moreso if they believed in something right.

I believe that America has done much good for the world as well as some bad. I also believe that in the relatively short history of their country, Americans have demonstrated an incredible willingness to help out people of other nations, even at tremendous costs to themselves or to America in general.

Yes, we all know that if there is ever a difference of opinion, you are automatically correct and anyone else is wrong, Jerrek
