Is it anti-Christian to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas? I mean, there's Hannukah and Kwanza, too. The god-botherers seems to be making a big deal about this.

I go out of my way to offend as many Christians as possible by using Happy Holidays only.

Whatever your religion, have a very merry Christmas.

There is a Christmas carol titled "Happy Holidays" that goes back to the 1940s, before diversity was even an issue, when mainstream America assumed that everyone was a Christian. It's a standard in the Christmas songbook. So the phrase clearly is not considered offensive by Christians in general. Just the fringe element that sits around waiting for something to be offended by.

My respect for Christianity is about as low as you can get, but even I don't find the celebration of Christmas to be offensive. For all practical purposes it is a secular holiday and I'm happy to have an excuse to party and give presents and sing carols.

Never forget that in America the two most popular icons of Christianity are Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, and that we celebrate Halloween with the same enthusiasm.
