As some of you know I usually give away healthy dried apples that are in individually wrapped bags. This year I'm going to change what I give out. I'm going to be handing out Sun Maid Raisins in small boxes. I think the kids might like them better than the apples.

Mary Janes are a delicious nostalgic candy from the 50's. Tasty bite size chewy peanut butter and molasses candies from Necco.

Remember buying penny candy at your favorite corner store? Mary Jane's candies still have the same great taste, just not a penny candy anymore.

Did You Know That The original Mary Jane Company was founded and manufactured in Paul Reverie’s former house in Boston, MA. In 1914 The Charles N. Miller Company begins manufacturing Mary Jane candies. Miller names the molasses and peanut butter candy for his favorite aunt, Mary Jane. The little girl whose likeness has appeared on candy wrappers ever since.

Each box contains 160 individually wrapped peanut butter Mary Jane's Candies per box.

I'd go with a variety of things: razorblades, cyanide, tapeworm proglottids.

I LOVE Necco Wafers too (not the "mint" ones, the brown, yellow and orange ones).
I got so excited to see the Necco factory in Boston, I stopped my car in the middle of the road and got out to take a picture of the sign.
    I felt like Charlie Bucket!

I LOVE Necco wafers as well. Lots of memories connected to those things. I loved licking the dust off of them and seeing them magically change colour (I was an easily entertained child). My kids love them as well. Necco now makes a wafer roll where they are all chocolate.

    I know.
My wife bought me one and I was thrilled! (easy to please, what can I say?)
They need to make either an all yellow roll and an all orange roll, or a brown, yellow and orange roll.
The green, white and pink ones taste like Canada Mints

uke: and the purple ones, whatever the hell they are supposed to be (licorice, maybe?), taste like shit.

I would sooooooo much love to hand out Ex-lax at Halloween and pretend it was chocolate.

The mint ones taste like Pepto Bismol to me. ick.
I traded my brown ones for my brothers black ones. I liked the licorice ones, but I loved the orange ones. Have they always been stamped? I noticed that with my kid's but I don't remember them being stamped when I was a kid.

I find it funny that people who say Necco wafers are lame or nasty, love teh candy hearts. Same thing, different shape.

I wondered the same thing a few years ago when I first noticed.
    Good question.
