I heard the game engine is suppose to rival that of Doom III..surely no such thing is possible..is it?

Still the engine itself will bring in enough money for the publisher

I’m not going to guess on that but will wait and see, but this is for sure: UT2K3, DOOMIII and HL2 are going to be THE FPS engines for the next 2-3 years, now remember how Quake 3 and Unreal though superior to Halflife graphically have not match Halflife’s populated as a internet mod engine. Not that these predict the victory of HL2 in this trinity but its just something to remember that graphic quality does not assure dominates.

Why not, it won't be long tell they do, maybe just a few months to a year after the PC release. Keep in mind that the Xbox is just a Pentium III 733Mhz with a modified GeForce 4 GPU, so there will only need to be minor alterations to the code. Of course the Xbox version won’t be as graphically amazing as the PC version

(as long as your PC has superior stats to the xbox and you know how to tweak some settings.)

Yea, I've been drooling over the articles lately. Can't DL any of the movies though, dialup >.< But still, it looks amazing. And UT2k3 kinda blew, the engine is ok, but still. Both Doom3 and HL:2 are going to feature dynamic lighting systems that will revolutionize all FSP game methinks. Yea. Can't wait to see a Counter-Strike version come out for HL:2's engine. MWAHAHAHHAHAH. Yea.

I don't think I will ever go back to CS or its sequal. The best realistic weapons internet FPS I have played is q3ut2 (Urban Terror) the advantages it has over CS is that you can play different game types include types in which you respawn (I hate waiting for the next level after I die, HATE IT!) as well as a non-monetary weapons selection. If CS2 has those features then I am sold. As for TFC2 that is a total insult to me! The new sierra TFC2 totally destroys the concepts and game play of the old.

The title was a bit to ironic, as it was taking forever for it to come out.

Wasn't Half-life based on the Quake 2 engine???

Future prediction - Every game coming out in two years from no on for the PC will have either Half-life 2 engine or Doom III engine running.

Isn't that case with Quake III Vs Unreal engine.

Pollux - it might come to the X-box but visually it will be not as up to par on PC...Doom III is already planned for the X-box since it was the only system that could handle it respectively.

    duke 4-eva must be dead.

Roll on HL2, Halo 2, and DooM III!

I hope the hype is justified. It often isn't.

I think Sierra and valve have been doing a good job keeping the hype down, I think DoomIII has been hyped silly and people are going to be disappointed.

Half-Life was based on Quake 1. Go look it up. I assure you it's true.

Ya I was aware of that, though at first I thought because of the graphics it was based off quake 2.

I thought HL was based on Q2?

I know Q2 was based on quake, but was HL based directly from the original?
