The Death of the Bill of Rights in America http://english.pravda.ru/printed.html?news_id=14482

Did you ever think you would live to see the day Pravda warning America about slipping into a dictatorship ?

Pravda was the propaganda outlet for the Communist Party before the wall came down... ironically, it's now the propaganda outlet for all things paranormal, conspiracy theories, the supernatural, unconfirmed and contrived gossip, UFO stories, and the like.

In short, the credibility of Pravda is no better now than when it was controlled by the Politburo. Now, it can't even rise to the level of the National Enquirer of the United States.

But Russian people read it... and believe it....

Pravda, or the Russian tabloid version of "THE truth", is known for its rather speculative reporting style (read flying saucers, the discovery of Atlantis, even million year old messages carved in stone found under a house near Moscow - really). The content is little more than graffiti on newsprint.

I cut them some slack only because otherwise the Russians would have so little entertainment beside porn.

Barkhorn.

And you are living testament to this accurate Quote .

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

"That is a morbid observation, at best, and we are all stuck with it. The 2004 presidential election will be a matter of life or death for the whole nation. We are sick today, and we will be even sicker tomorrow if this wretched half-bright swine of a president gets re-elected in November. Take my word for it. Mahalo."

A shame, Hunter S. Thompson died recently too. At least he won't have to see the horrors that are worse than the psychadelic trips in his books come to life.

In short, the credibility of Pravda is no better now than when it was controlled by the Politburo.

But how can that be?

We were told that a free market system would result in personal liberties, civil rights, a free press, etc. Are you saying that -- in other words -- the free market has done nothing to improve the accuracy Russian press?

That the free market actually works against a free press, by basing its offerings upon what people want, as oppose to being a source of information?

That the free market is not quite the unvarnished universal good that everyone claims it is?

Yes, it's rhetorical.
