Somethings up at pirate bay. maybe I'm wrong but I think there's a scam in progress to get account details, twitter, myface, ect ect
If you have avg installed it updates invisibly when you connect to PB.
You have to check the event log to see it.
You cannot connect to pb. It appears that avg is blocking site but it's just cover for a redirect to avgthreatlabs whoever they are.

    Nasty.

    Tell me I'm paranoid please.
I've been offline a few years but I've never known an AV package that blocks sites at admin level.
This is after the update I recieved when connecting to pb.
To cut a long story short.. They ask for account information twitter facebook and a few other sites.
I don't like my update so I'm going off line to delete and reinstall avg.
and you'd have to be stupid to give them info but I bet some do.

Took a while to resolve anything. The generated source was minimal, no actual content.

Avast didn't throw up an alarm or anything, which I've tested before, and it let's you know when something's bad.

Maybe it's a very specific sniffer, and it didn't like my PC.

Given that website's history, I wouldn't doubt it went down for some reason.

AVG has a "safe-surf" option in their software (Link Scanner), it's possible that thepiratebay has been classed as unsafe. AVG's software will intervene on certain site, you can of course turn it off in options.

Looks more like thepiratebay is down again, likely down to rerouting of their DNS or perhaps even an attack against them. Wouldn't surprise me considering all the botnet concerns online, you'll probably find half the networks were installed via illegal filesharing on Peer-to-peer.

    Stryder

Just disconnected. Uninstalled AV. Shutdown. Reinstalled from compressed .exe. Come back and tried to talk.

The part of yor post with the line through. Yeah that part. Tried twice to cut and paste.
Both times redirected to google. Running trend micro online av as I type.
    Advice

    WTF?

"then why provide a link to it? "

To save the stupid the brave and the curious the trouble of cutting and pasting.
I assume the locals have some level of basic intelligence.
    thats why I come here.

I've had that on my computer before and it always showed up as an anti-virus thing.

You'll need to d/l a special tool to get rid of it, can't remember what it's called. Check all your program files, you'll see it's attached itself in random places.

Do a search on the name of what is popping up and look for instructions on how to get rid of it. Deleting AV won't work, because it will attach itself randomly to other program files as well and you have to dig for it.

trust me, if someone says their antivirus flagged a site as dangerous i certainly will not cut and paste the name or URL into my browser.

i have a spare 20 gig HHD. maybe i should set up XP on it and use it for such things. power down my machine, unplug my "good" HHD, plug in the 20 gig, and have at it.

hey, that's an idea but reverse it. use the 20 gig for all my "stuff i'm paranoid about" and my regular drive for the rest.

If all else fails and you had your files backed up, you could always do a complete reformat and re-install.
