Very good speech by a major politican on energy:

http://europe.theoildrum.com/node/4300

main points:

-Expansion of nuclear
-Expansion of renewables, possibly including Severn barrage
-Discussion of solar energy with Mediterranean states
-Tax breaks for energy efficiency measures
-Electric vehicles are placed on the agenda

Now if we only could get a US politican to switch to the bright side....

P.S.: Hydrocarbons are infinite and renewable.

So were dodos, and look what happened to them! :)

Dodos are biological; hydrocarbons are chemical.

Hydrogen and carbon are infinite.

So? It doesn't make any difference as long as the rate of consumption/hunting is MUCH higher than the rate of replacement/birth...

just out of curiosity, what is the rate of replenishment in your twisted mind for oil? How many years does it take for oil to be recreated???

Since you know everything, why don't you tell us?

"We're dealing with this giant flow-through system where the hydrocarbons are generating now, moving through the overlying strata now, building the reservoirs now and spilling out into the ocean now," Cathles says.

You are correct, I do know everything. So I am telling you that oil is not abiotic, but just in case, I challenged you for a debate in the Formal debate forum. There you can prove your assumption and the rate of replenishment... :)

Should be fun!

Awesome. Most vitalists are afraid to debate.
