Who do you think?

I think it's probably a two way tie between Alexander Of Macidon and Hannibal Barca.

Who do you think?

It does help if you give a definition of the question, otherwise this thread is no different than the "What is the greatest badn of all time?"

??? why do you need constraints to your answer to give one?
Its just who was the greatest in your opinion. Why make it a harder question than what it is??

Then what's the point in asking? He wants to know who is my fav based on my very subjective elimination or he wants to come to an objective conclusion, if there is such??

let me make an interesting thread byasking people of their fav color! On the other hand, if there is an objecive standard we could actually compare fav military leaders...

If you aren't capable of answering it then don't answer the question. If you can't answer it then you can't. simple.

Look, you will never win a logic/semantic argument over me. I would like to answer the question, but I need clarification first.

Not to mention we already have a thread on the very same topic, and usually moderators CLOSE the doublethread. :)

Alexander of Macidon
Gaius Marius
Julius Caesar
Genghis Khan

The thing about Genghis is his compound bow was way too powerful. Almost as powerful as a modern day gun (4 times more powerful than modern day carbon fiber compound bow) WHO couldn't win with such an awesome weapon?!? BUT his reorganization of the army based on merit and his HUGE empire is testament to his ability.

Well think of this - The famed English long bow had a draw strength similar to modern bows of about 60 to 70 lbs - the Mongolian bow took 7 years to construct and had a draw strength of 160 lbs. It was the most advanced weapon until the modern gun.

Just as the Europeans were able to conquore everything in their path using guns the Mongolians did the same using thier extremely powerful bow. SO? Are we to say Ghangus was the sole reason or the bow? I7d say both. BUT defintaly that bow gave the mongolians the same sort of advantage the gun gave the Europeans.

Samurai were gunned down by farmers armed with repeating guns. I suppose we have to take the weapons into account. That's why when we look at Alexader or Julius we see more or less similar armies (Roman on Roman for example) with similar weapons and therefor have to attribute the glory in battle to the leader.

Any leader that used guns shouldn't even be considered. Each and every culture has produced formidable and ferocious warlords. But undoubtedly the best Military leaders are from the Ancient Armies. Like Alaric, Hannibal Barca, Sun Tzu! Those battles were to brutal for us to imagine, any leader that was able to conquer entire lands under those conditions deserves the title of Warlord.

One of the greatest military leaders of our past was Ogadai Khan, the son of Ghengis Khan. He kept the mongols focused and his fathers armies together. He continued his fathers vision of empire expansion. He was his fathers favorite son and so destined to become a great Khan.
