I thought why not start a thread about this topic as I've found basically shit out there in my time alive. So I want truly unique cases that are actually functionally superior and well designed. I submit to you this -> http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/crafted_series/phantom

with video review here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsVfZT4YHXE

I've never seen such a great case, very well thought out and designed. I remember thinking the stupid Antec Sonata was good, but this thing just bashes it to hell.

    So anyone else have anything?

I kinda like those custom plexiglass cases people have been making.

while we're on the topic ..... I wonder how hard it is to cut plexiglass on a cnc mill? Are there router tips that make clean cuts without melting it?

    For the cost...

As low as $139.82 from Amazon.com

I think it is a bit over priced.

I have an aluminium case with 6 6 inch fans that will hold 6 HD. 4 CD/DVD players, and a 1000 watt power supply and I only paid 50.00 for it.

Here's one I've thought about getting, but alas, I have a triple fan cooling system and this case is not very good for housing such a system, while it can house the radiator well, the pump is pretty much left outside.

    http://www.silverstonetek.com/raven/products/index.php?model=RV02-E&area=

They basically rotated the motherboard 90 degrees and the cooling fans (180mm) are placed at the bottom with their own removable and cleanable filters. So the air enters through the bottom, rises up through the motherboard, and out the top. Its pretty cool.

I have the next one up from the Antec for my main machine (this one), something similar for the backup machine and an old Antec tower houses the old AMD 64 system in the shop. I like the blue fans too

also the superior cooling capacity and air intake filters, which I clean regularly.

I have a variety of other cases lying around too, sometimes I put together a machine with one, though I should probably recycle some of that old stuff someday.

Wtf are you guys doing with your computers? I'm a software developer for an EDA company -- I run simulations all day. My basic Lenovo K210 and Thinkpad with limited upgrades work great.

I play around with photographs (thousands), music, writing, collect literature, keep business files, contacts etc, personal trivia, correspondence, communication, research.

I also play with Photoshop, Bryce, Carrara, a slew of related creativity programs and some serious gaming as well.

That was my thought exactly. Nowadays 2 HDs and 2 DVD drives are way overkill....
    Who burns CDs/DVDs anymore anyway???

you can try lowering the RPM of the spindle.
have no idea what brand of CNC mill you are using but a "bridgeport" can easily reach 10,000 RPM. this is WAY too fast for your needs.
copious amounts of good coolant might help too, doesn't necessarily need to be oil, maybe some type of good anti-freeze.
CAUTION some solvents will melt or distort plexiglas

I got them on sale along with the case. I needed to upgrade my MOBO so a new case wasa a must. It was a good buy, about 100.00 for the two cd players and the case. Even the ASUS MOBO was on sale for 75.00 down from 125.00. I needed to upgrade my video cards but my old MOBO doesn't handle the new cards, the slots are different for todays cards. The video cards were cheap enough at about 75.00 each and since I read about the crossfire system I thought it would be worth a try to see if it did really help out, which it did not.
