View Full Version : Great Names! alexb123 12-16-06, 05:25 AM What are the greatest names past and present? Isambard Kingdom Brunel Fraggle Rocker 12-16-06, 05:14 PM IKB, IKB! Yes. There was a special on PBS (America's non-profit educational TV network) about him twenty years ago. Entirely animated, which was really nice because they could morph one of his blueprints into a functional artifact. And at all the transitions they were singing this cute little song, "IKB!, IKB!" Thanks for reminding me of that. I wonder if it's available on DVD...? I can't imagine a greater name than that. We've got deliberately serious names like Sojourner Truth and deliberately silly names like Moon Unit Zappa, but you guys give your kids names like Isambard Kingdom Brunel and think it's just a regular ordinary thing to do. :) Our new senator Barack Hussein Obama has a name that will draw chuckles for a while. His first name sounds like "Iraq" and his last name sounds like "Osama" and his middle name sounds like... no wait, it actually is "Hussein," and he still got elected. (Got that joke from Jon Stewart.) draqon 12-16-06, 05:17 PM What are the greatest names past and present? Ghost_007 12-16-06, 05:47 PM I totally agree there....best gun ever to exist! http://world.guns.ru/assault/ak.jpg It mite be (wouldn't have a clue). Its the name I love! Kalashnikov!!! check this out: Michael Kalashnikov, a man who became with its technical revolution a national hero, even if he had only one thing in mind: the protection of his homeland and its ideology. Intentionally or not, he created a tool of revolution that ultimately shaped the world as it is today. With political social change a new spirit of the time has developed. Today M.T. Kalashnikov says "Weapons we have built enough. Now we must place ourselves to new challenges. Peace becomes a steadfast value." The main motivation of M.T. Kalashnikov, lies today in the development of high quality products for the peaceful employment. In collaboration with the finest Swiss watch manufacturers, Kalashnikov watches bring you time pieces of distinction and superior construction, yet still retain the Kalashnikov design attitude that reflects the echoes of revolution. From AK47s to... watches, lol! The watches are actually quite nice: http://www.sporttek.co.uk/AK002.jpg draqon 12-16-06, 05:48 PM :D i love that cartoon. im the only american i know that can understand russian...it was funny even before i could. the HUGE baba yaga house was great too! well it sorta reminded me of jap. anime...but than it got its own style. So, glad you liked it. Nikelodeon 12-16-06, 05:48 PM why thank you. Nickelodeon is a good name. Thanks, I stole it myself. The Devil Inside 12-16-06, 05:48 PM I totally agree there....best gun ever to exist! http://world.guns.ru/assault/ak.jpg ak47's arent quality guns. but they are functional and cheap. it isnt their reliability that has made their name, its the fact that anyone can buy one for relatively little money. draqon 12-16-06, 05:51 PM ak47's arent quality guns. but they are functional and cheap. it isnt their reliability that has made their name, its the fact that anyone can buy one for relatively little money. It is precisely their reliability and cheap price that made them so popular. The Afghan war, the war in Chechnya, and other wars...are prove of that. Nikelodeon 12-16-06, 05:54 PM Mr Kalashnikov said if he had his time again he would try to design something useful rather than destructive - preferably a lawnmower. Ghost_007 12-16-06, 05:57 PM Got these from: http://www.ethanwiner.com/funnames.html Dick Bender (real sports person) Dick Bush (real person) Dick Finder (real name of a urologist) Dick Head Dick Hertz Dick Hunter (my junior high principal - really!) Dick Pole (real major league baseball player) Dick Rasch (real person) Dick Tator Dick Trickle (real person, a NASCAR driver) draqon 12-16-06, 05:57 PM Mr Kalashnikov said if he had his time again he would try to design something useful rather than destructive - preferably a lawnmower. yeah I agree....not really something to be proud of...but than some other guns would have been used anyways...same thing with Nuclear bomb, it would have been designed by someone else. draqon 12-16-06, 05:58 PM Got these from: http://www.ethanwiner.com/funnames.html what about Dick Chaine? in chains....and famous one too... Ghost_007 12-16-06, 06:02 PM Mr Kalashnikov said if he had his time again he would try to design something useful rather than destructive - preferably a lawnmower. He could release a fragrance. It would have to be a deep red colour and have some human blood. Could call it Kalashnikov's Fog of War. The Devil Inside 12-16-06, 06:08 PM regardless of where we sit in the debate on ak's, this is a pretty cool article i just stumbled on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_the_AK-47_and_M16 Ghost_007 12-16-06, 06:09 PM yeah I agree....not really something to be proud of...but than some other guns would have been used anyways...same thing with Nuclear bomb, it would have been designed by someone else. Kalashnikov isn't the man behind the triggers of AK47s around the World, he just designed it, was he behind the production and distribution? The bastards that flood poor and war stricken countries with arms are to blame. invert_nexus 12-16-06, 06:09 PM Snidely. That's a kickass name. Hey. I just thought of a really good name. Insidious. Yeah. That's awesome. (I'm serious.) Neildo 12-17-06, 02:17 AM Englebert Humperdinck, Dick Butkus, and any of W.C.
