i was running some ideas around in my head the other day and thought, hmmm, how about GRATED CHEESE WHIZ instead of the creamy stuff. well, i am going to look into this and get back to you. if you have any suggestions let me know.
Freeze it & grate it... I think it's more like salty, yellow dyed, xanthan & guar gum with maybe a molecule or 2 of cheese thrown in as an after thought. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Great stuff.
"In the 1940s and 50s these sandwiches were open-faced and usually made with prepackaged grated "American" cheddar cheese"
Hmmmm.. It looks like peanut butter. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I could never understand why cheese in the US was always so orange and has that plastic consistency. Or.. You could simply get a nice tasty vintage cheddar or possibly smoked cheddar (if you like it and since it grates well) and grate it on your bread just before you eat it. That way, it actually tastes like cheese, is not orange, tastes nice and is probably a lot healthier for you than the over processed crap that kraft comes out with.. be it in a box, jar or can. Bleh.. cheese in a can. Sacrilege.:bawl: Go to your local deli and actually taste cheese.. real cheese. And then take it home and grate it.
Just a dark photo... it's the same shade of yellow as Kraft slices of "processed cheese food". You can still get actual cheese at most supermarkets. Not sure what the attraction of the "plasti-cheese" is. Probably a staple of the same sort of folks who think "Wonder Bread" is actual bread. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!uke:
i wondered the same thing about canada. they have orange cheese and white butter... its like going to opposite land.
Didn't Velveeta already do that? and hurry back to us, I know I'm on pins and needles. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Why would u want to grad Cheese Wiz like others have said befor If u want graded cheese that bad then go buy a block of cheese and Grad it
Cheez-whiz is good if you take it for what it was meant to be. It's not supposed to be an all-purpose substitute for real cheese. You can certainly get good cheese in the US. You mean just grated cheese in a jar? What's the point of that?
The orange color is added. Without it, it would be white. Velveeta and cheeze whiz were invented to make cheese easy to melt with no stringiness. It's base is cheddar. I saw a documentary on cheese once.
