I just finished the game called gothic. It's best RPG I played so far. It's so much better than Morrowind. It doesn't look as pretty but great realism. You feel like the world is alive.

Many parts of the game is like watching a horror movie. I have never seen another game with a more sinister looking dungeon. There is one part that has nudity.

It's not a game for young children.

The control for combat system can be frustrating but most of you kids have good hand eye coordination I am sure. :D

HOLD ME !!!!

I did beat Max Payne though without any cheats and i seem to be making headway in Max Payne 2 without much trouble.

As for PC RPGs i never got into them. Console based RPGs were always more inviting and intriguing to me. I keep confusing them with RTS games.

I always liked MMORPGs. Nothing like playing with thousands of others. Monthly subscription fees are hard to justify though.

So nobody played gothic I or II? It's too bad this game completely slips under the radar screen.

Yeah, I've never heard of it before. Looking at reviews, the graphics seem 'iffy'... but that doesn't matter as much if the story/acting is good.

Most reviews seem to agree that it is good though.

Graphics is 1996 standard, but it's 3D nonetheless. You can climb mountain or dive under water anywhere. Games like Baldur's gate is 2D. The game is 3 years old and it spent 3-4 years in development, so it doesn't surprise me the graphics is dated. Gothic II graphics is actually gorgeous and state of the art, but you need to play Gothic I first so you understand the story and get more enjoyment out of Gothic II. The graphics for Gothic I in the dungeon is stunning and the atmosphere is amazing. It's actually flat out scary. It's like watching horror movie but yourself is in it.

Gothic I has much better story. If you want to immerse into the story and soak up the atmosphere, Gothic I is a better game. Gothic II's story is above average compare to other games, but not as good as I. The game has great realism. Everyone in the game is an asshole (just like real life). People do their job in the day, they socialize an talk to each other and sit around camp fire. You can hear them talk in the background. They go back home and sleep at night. If you intrude someone's home, they chase you out. It's not like Morrowind or Baldur's gate which people stand around like zombies.

What's great about Gothic I's story is that it totally reaches a big climax in final chapter, and middle chapter were building up to the climax. You never know what to expect. You don't feel like you want to go to sleep. Well, in Gothic II, you knew you are fighting a dragon in the end because your mentor told you so right in the beginning. The plot follows almost the same formula as Gothic I.

My favorite PC RPG series? Quest for Glory 1-5. You start from part 1 as an adventurer with minimal experience and you make your way to becoming a hero. You then venture off to other places which bring you to part 2, 3, 4 and 5. The story and puzzles are great since they relate to each game and you get to meet previous characters from pervious parts. Great game if you ask me.
