I pondered posting this on the distant backwaters of Religion or Ethics or wherever Macropsychology is discussed in thoughtful murmurings. But this comes down to here and now as it most interests me, because the evangelists are talking cosmic showdown. Apocalypse now.

Because people are listening on various levels, their meme could be just viral enough to come true. Journey with me into the tangled world of American Christian Evangel-ism, which is making a profound impact on the thinking of Americans from the very top, through the very core, and to the very bottom of our society.

This is not a thread for the Religion forum, at least so long as we stick to popular American Christian prophesy that pertains explicitly to contemporary geopolitics. I would especially welcome the participation of believing Christian Evangelicals, so long as we stick to the constraints I request.

At first I was going to title the thread "God Loves Israel". But I didn't, I think maybe for marketing reasons. It is the influence of evangelical memes that has been driving several trends in the USA. They could be in the right place at the right time to see the cataclysmic fulfillment of Revelations (or the sparking of an intense global conflict, depending on beliefs).

I intend to talk about Revelations in the Bible, as certain interpretations which have permeated into, for example, the consciousness of the President of the United States. I'm holding back what's on my mind for the discussion. Maybe someone can contribute firrst.

    Jump in, let's go.

    Whoa, Bowie flashbacks, heh.

Anyways, if Revelations is to happen, it won't be because it was a foreseen event that we have no control over, it's because people want it to happen and they're making it happen. I forget what that's called, but that's the reason why. Let's just keep the whacky fundamental and born-again Christians outta dangerous leadership positions and we'll be safe. These nutjobs are doing everything possible to make their Christian visions come true. It's all their doing, not God's.

Exactly. The right vicious meme in the right high places at the wrong volatile time and I'm Afraid of Americans.

America is equipped to provide you with just that. Peace through Strength. This is our Global Struggle against Extremism. Stay the Course. War is Peace.

I think some American Mullahs have assisted greatly in nudging our government toward becoming the biggest sore loser in history. We are being set up by a religious meme to throw such a tantrum in the near future over events involving no foreign action on US soil, yet somebody's gonna nuke somebody.

Before this fight is through. Somebody's gonna come undone- There's nothing we can do...

Or maybe there is. First, we have to acquire sufficient situational awareness in order to assess what our options are, and then choose the ones most likely to yield a positive outcome for all of us. I need to go make some money right now, but when I come back, I'm bringing my Bible, God Dammit.

If you would like to study with me, please turn to the Book of Revelations. Let's take a stroll through there with a few prominent American evangelists as our gracious guides, shall we?

    See you in Hell.

I'd be happy to, but I think that a significant number of evagelicals respond to Matthew 24, too, and the language might have an even deeper impact given current events and evangelicals' strong relationship with Jesus:

And so on and so forth.

You know, evangelists haven't always supported the right politically. They have supported the left since they come down on the side of helping the poor and supporting civil rights. I wonder how long the love affair with the neo-cons will last. I wonder how popular the apocolypic wing of the extreme religious really is.

If there really is a god it won't matter what the hell we humans do. God would make whatever HE wants happen whenever HE wants. You'all are lucky I'm not in charge, cause I would just go ahead and get the inevitable over with. WWIII, let the winner start over.

    LOL nice picture spidergoat.
Can't wreally agree with Giskard thoug. Extermination sounds a bid like a joly mixture between the crusades and the holocaust.

It's my believe that any person that constantley repeads that what they are doing is good, only say's so because he knows he actually fucking up.

Anyway the bible says a lot of things. Like the mormons could proberly tell you.
And we only know like 4 evangelies while their actually more then 10.

Anyway it isn't worth killing somebody you aren't formerly introduced to especially if you have to risk your own life in doing.
Pushing a button seems so boring. But then again it does give something of a devine punisment.

What nation did Israel call that was unknown to Isaiah in his time? The United States. Which nations that did not know Israel but ran to her because of the Lord our God? The U.S. , England and others.

The Hebrew word nation in that verse means Gentile nation. The Hebrew word leader means civil, military or religious leader and is only used two other times in the whole Bible. To know how God was using that word, I looked up who He called "leader" in the other verses. It is also used to describe Jehoiada (1 Chron 12:27) who is very similar to President Bush, using "spear and shield" along with the leaders with him. (1Chron 13:1) Of them it is written:

There is a parallel there. An illustration. David, Jehoiada and the leaders fought for their nation under the hand of God. Is it possible that Isaiah, who began talking about the past but shifted toward the future, is prophesying about President Bush, who is also a leader doing everything he can for Hebron under the hand of God as Isaiah described? America is the Gentile nation that Israel has called and was not known by Israel at the time of Isaiah, and we have run to her aid just as prophesied in Isaiah 55:5.

These verses have long been claimed to point to Jesus as the "witness" and "leader," but Jesus is the Christ which all the witnesses and prophets point to. (see verses below). Christ is more than a leader, He is our King. The description doesn’t quite match the glory of Him.

This comparison has been hotly disputed. Some accuse President Bush of working against Israel with negotiations of the Gaza strip. Yet Palestinians are furious with Bush as events fall into place favoring Israel, agreed to by Bush.

If this verse is a prophesy about President Bush, it would not mean that Bush is perfect or a guarantee of success. King David made some major mistakes. John the Baptist was a witness of Christ and ended up beheaded. In fact all of the disciples were witnesses of Christ and suffered violent deaths.

What the verse DOES say is that God has given us a witness and leader. Bush has boldly spoken of Jesus Christ and has led, therefore the prophesy is already fulfilled. The question is, will our nation follow him or will we choose a man who stands for abortion, the butchering of babies; for homosexuality; giving lip service to whatever he thinks the people want rather than what God commands?

Our nation will be judged and the election will be a large part of it. Based on the current polls, I would be surprised if Bush lost. Based on the Bible, I would be surprised if Bush won. Whether with Kerry in 2004 or Hillary in 2008, the Bible describes very dark times ahead with increasingly radical weather patterns coming in waves like a woman in labor. Should Kerry or Hillary win, I imagine the backlash against Christians and real values will be intense. Liberals will be deluding themselves with cheers of "peace and safety" which is exactly when the Bible says destruction will come.

The next verses in Isaiah are a message from God to us today,
President Bush is a man of God, but if America does not turn around and repent, God will turn His back on us. Moses was a leader from God, but the people did what they wanted, and the cost was huge.

I have been quoting from here until now. I think this meme, as disturbing as it may be, may be more prevalent than we might at first look recognize. That's what I think. Read on, if you agree with this suspicion, because it gets crazier.

I should have prefaced such a post with a supererogatory caveat.

I do not believe that the Biblical prophecy pertained to Modern Israel the state we know and love.
